If we're relying on Buchholz, we're in trouble. We have a solid front four in the rotation with Penny, Smoltz in June and Masterson, who is being groomed as a starter in ST, to supplement the front four. Buchholz will get some starts this year and it's important that he develops well, but god help us if we're relying on him.

Burnett was not an ace last year. He had a 4.07 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP, both below his career average. He has great stuff and racked up the strikeouts, but he's not a #1.

Good move, I wonder if they could platoon him in LF with Diaz. Play Griffey against righties and Diaz against lefties. EDIT: I should probably have read the article...

I'd want someone who can play OF, since Baldelli isn't the most reliable to play consecutive games.

First time through the order (unfortunately this includes as a reliever): .209/.315/.332 in 217 PAs Second time through order: .225/.321/.451 in 81 PAs Third+ time through order: .228/.328/.416 in 67 PAs So besides the SLG in the 2nd time it wasn't so drastic.

I doubt it, it's easier to have a personal catcher when you're a starter.
