  1. I wouldn't doubt the Tigers play much better this weekend. Much like Toronto the last few years. Get up for the Sox, lay down for the Yanks.
  2. This is the same Pena that was hitting .320 whe he went down. Is there some possible chance he is starting to grow as a player? He started to hit the ball the other way more, etc. Old habits are hard to break, yeah, and he might have been having a relapse or something but I think WMP has a bright future in Boston. I also think WMP gets a bad rap because he was traded for a guy who the fans loved, played guitar, and cornrowed his hair. I don't think there's this much fuss over the trade if they shipped Clement (who was better than Arroyo for the first half, and the second half was worse, although comparable) or Wells (who was the Sox's best starter the second half of last year. Seriously, I liked Bronson as much as the next guy, but he was at best a league average pitcher. Wily Mo has a hell of a lot more potential than Bronson does, and I think he's on his way.
  3. Tigers absolutely s***ing the bed against the Yankees.
  4. What happens if Loretta makes his play and Manny doesn't commit the error?
  5. Ok, my family is doing something for my grandfather. We've decided to paint one side of his garage like the Green Monster (he's a diehard Sox fan), and we want it to look as good as possible. We're trying to keep everything in proportion, the thing is, no one knows how big the scoreboard is. Does anyone have any idea?
  6. I dunno if it's been said, but Sheff's back on the DL.
  7. He also may have gotten out of the inning of not for the Loretta play and the Manny error. His line could have been somewhere like 5IP, 3ER which would have been fairly decent for your first major league start.
  8. All the same, why not give Choi a shot instead of sending out the known suckiness of Snow. I'm also starting to think Snow's D is more reputation over substance.
  9. Right, because Wily Mo hitting .320 when Coco was out wasn't important. Face it, the only way Cincy deals Wily Mo is if we shipped out Arroyo. They weren't going to take Clement (too expensive) and they weren't going to take Wells (too old.) Is it possible Theo made this trade to make the team better for the future? I know Bronson was very good for the Red Sox over the latter part of '04 and the beginning of '05, but he fell back to earth hard towards the end of last year. Plu,s he would have been the long guy out of the bullpen when the season started anyway. Theo has made some huge mistakes (Renteria, Clement signings) but I don't think this trade is one of them.
  10. He was a lot more competitive than Clement was. I'd rather see Pauley pitch every 5th day at this point instead of Clement.
  11. Joe and Jerry on the radio tonight said he left with a strained hamstring. Probably day to day.
  12. WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!! What a play!!! Maybe he'll settle down now.
  13. Crisp's speed doesn't matter as much on this team. I'd rather see Youks on base ahead of Ortiz and Manny than Alex Gonzalez.
  14. I honestly think the best thing would have been to throw MDC for another inning.
  15. That and the fact he can't possibly be worse than Clement.
  16. Upon further reflection, more like 85-15, mainly because he didn't pinch hit for Gonzalez. Riske needed to show some balls and come through. He didn't. I'm not ready to give up on him though, seeing as he's pitched 1.2 innings all year.
  17. I don't want Cabrera. That contract is atrocious. Plus, the oly way we're trading Clement is if we eat some of the salary. So that'd be more wasted $$.
  18. On second thought, Foulke has been good. Maybe that's why Tito threw Riske. He doesn't want to overwork Foulke, even with the day off he threw 4 of 5 days.
  19. Dude, relax. He made a mistake, but it was Clement's sorry outing that put them in a position to lose. Foulke should have started the inning. Aside from two or three outings he's been very good this year. Absolutely no reason to start Riske for that inning.
  20. Lefty on lefty? Good idea...
