  1. So how many positions has he played this year? The three outfield positions? WMP did that in ONE GAME.
  2. It really is a relief that Paxton Crawford, he who won 5 GAMES IN HIS CAREER, has brought such lively discussion. In case you haven't noticed, he's out of baseball. He must not have been very good if even taking roids wasn't enough to keep him in the league. Now, how about Sheffield and Giambi? ACTIVE PLAYERS who continue to aid the Yankees' success, even though they are essentially admitted cheaters as well. I'm so relieved that making the comparison to an AAAA pitcher and two guys with 300+ home runs seems so logical at this point in time.
  3. So much for him being back in a week, then.
  4. If you look at the closers thread, you can see that the case could be made that BJ Ryan is having just as good of a season as Papelbon is. A closer winning ROY has to have one of two things happen...one being there isn't any real competition for it (IE Street last year), and two they have to be having an out of the world type season anyway. Since, as of now, Ryan's numbers are comparable to Papelbon's, I wouldn't say that Papelbon is the favorite of anything right now. It's very close between him and Liriano. I do know this, if Liriano pitches as well as he has tonight, or even remotely close to it, there's no debate at all. He'll be ROY.
  5. Liriano is a bonafide stud. He's pitching an absolute gem right now. 2 hitter through 7, 6 Ks.
  6. Thanks, dude. GoM, the author of the thread was being sarcastic.
  7. I think it'd take some combo of Wang/Cano?Cabrera/Hughes to get it done. But what do I know.
  8. I understand that Cashman is a decent GM, but no one has told me who he could make these supposed moves with.
  9. People voted and majority ruled, smart guy.
  10. So who are the Yankees going to trade for Smoltz? Apparently there's no way the Red Sox can rip them off because of their genius GM, so what makes you think the Yankees will?
  11. He'd be the fourth starter. Schilling, Beckett, Wake, Lester. Sarcasm much?
  12. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams.
  13. So who are the Yankees going to trade for Smoltz?
  14. Probably...but this move is so low-risk/decent potential that it's really not worth worrying about.
  15. Meh. I'd take my chances with the young kids. I think we'd be able to be competitive, but also experience the joy of watching these young arms develop. I'm not old enough to remember what it was like for Clemens, but I can imagine it was a lot of fun to see him develop and mature as a pticher. I get to do that with guys like Lester, Papelbon, Hansen, Delcarmen, etc. and that is a worthwhile experience for me too.
  16. I really think he'll improve with the infield here. You don't need an ace for your #5, just someone who can keep you in games. I think we're all right in terms of 1-3, and #4 just pitched an excellent game.
  17. That he does come back? He hasn't done ANY rehab work yet.
  18. I would bet $100 right now that Wells isn't coming back.
  19. Nice play br Loretta to end it. Big win, nice job by Lester.
  20. Tavarez continues to suck.
  21. Zimmerman's f***ing solid.
  22. Yes. I want Paps strong in August/September. edit - I still think Rudy can be an effective pitcher when he throws strikes, I do hope they get rid of tavarez though.
  23. Hey Rudy: THROW STRIKES. IT'S DAMIAN FREAKING JACKSON. ABOUT TIME.
