  1. *Sigh* I don't like to be negative, but this is tough to watch.
  2. So basically, mail in the season.
  3. It's become clear Theo needs to make a move, and now.
  4. MDC up. Apparently Wake's back is still stiff.
  5. Youk's regressing to the mean. I didn't really think he'd be a .320 hitter all year.
  6. Someone should have told Loretta then.
  7. We threw the dregs of the bullpen yesterday. BS call right there.
  8. Oh noes. 21 outs to get 3 runs. WE SUK!!! Sox win tonight. Book it.
  9. f***. If that stays in the park, it's an inside the parker easy.
  10. He did have a 123 first, and this has always been Wake's MO. The nature of the knuckler. To be fair, nothing was hit hard tht inning. the walks killed him.
  11. As we say this, Wake's pitching around the Royals like they're the '27 Yankees.
  12. Like I said, neither should get booed. Minky was one of the 25. Apparently Sanders is scratched with Emil Brown in his place.
  13. A month late on the first point. Nice timing. Second, Varitek refuses to sign photos of that incident. Maybe if ARod just took his base instead of jawing at a pitcher who makes $350K, then it wouldn't have happened. It's not like he threw at his head or anything, he hit him in his elbow pad. Lastly, Jeter is one hell of an offensive ballplayer. He scares the s*** out of me in a big spot, I don't care what the numbers say. Things can be said about his defense, IMO, but he is definitely a very good offensive player.
  14. Neither should get booed. However, knowing some of the Fenway fans...
  15. You following Pedroia recently? You realize Loretta is basically just a singles hitter? You realize he's a lot older than Pedroia? You realize that having a guy like Cora who can spell AGonz is quite valuable, as opposed to simply having him and two second basemen?
  16. This year? Any year with consistency?

Tim Wakefield (7-8, 4.05 ERA) 07/16/2006 7:17 PM ET Wakefield welcomes Royals to Fenway Kansas City (32-59) at Boston (54-36), 7:05 p.m. ET By Howard Kussoy / MLB.com Having lost three of four games to the Oakland A's at home and seven of their last 11, the Red Sox will look to regain their first-place form as the American League Central's last-place team, the Kansas City Royals, arrives at Fenway Park for a three-game set Taking the mound in Monday night's opener will be knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who was originally slated to pitch on Sunday, but was pushed back a day because of a sore back. Right-hander Luke Hudson will start for the Royals. "He would've pitched on Sunday, but it makes sense," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "It gives him an extra day [of rest] the next time out. With the All-Star break, you have the ability to move a guy back, and I just didn't see why we shouldn't." Wakefield has not lost a decision since June 15 and has earned wins in three out of his last four starts. Wakefield, who often toiled with little run support early in the season, has benefitted from at least eight Red Sox runs in each of his last four starts, including three double-digit efforts. In his last outing, Wakefield allowed four runs and four hits over five innings in a win against Tampa Bay. Wakefield is 3-3 with a 3.11 ERA at home this season and 10-5 lifetime against Kansas City with a 3.56 ERA.
  19. Pretty crappy yo-yo then.
  20. You enjoy trolling? I think as it stands right now, the WMP/Arroyo trade is somewhat of a bust. However, when the trade was made, it was when Arroyo was the longman out of the bullpen and WMP was a guy who could be a stud in the future. It was a trade fore 3 years from now. I can't really fault Theo for making that trade. Arroyo's peripherals were so awful that no one could have expected the year he'd be having. I honestly think he'd be closer to a 5.00 ERA pitcher in the AL East. The fact that Arroyo can outperform his peripherals for this long is an excellent example of how weak the NL is. Pavano has been an incredible bust, and there's no denying that. Definitely a bigger bust than WMP. Pena was supposed to help more in the future, Pavano was supposed to have an immediate impact.
  21. If they were an AL team i would agree that they should probably do some salary dumping. However, in the VERY mediocre NL, if they make a run they can seriously contend for the WC. Their offense is pretty good and if they get some improvements with their relief pitching, they can make a run.
