  2. What do we have in Jon Lester right now? Since 4/29 v. Toronto (not including today): 5-1, 64.2 IP, 46 K, 19 BB, 2.09 ERA, 1.14 WHIP What's changed? BB/9: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/4930_P_season_full_2_20080621.png Plus, it seems he has introduced two new pitches, a two seam fastball and a changeup. Is it the quicker pace? People have mentioned the quicker pace has helped him. What's the difference between this year and last?
  3. Replacing Farnsworth with AAA fodder is robbing Peter to pay Paul.
  4. YOUUUUUUUUUUK
  5. Damn f***ing right. And I love Tito, but I hate that he's a slave to the L-L matchup. Hansen threw today about as well as he did all year...shoulda stuck with the hot hand. JD getting it done in the field when he has an off day at the plate makes me happy too.
  6. Varitek - Nice and toasty
  7. Lester is so good.
  8. They tried to get something out of Clement and Renteria. In fact, they got Andy Marte out of Renteria, regarded by some as the best prospect in the game. The point you seem to be missing is that it isn't that the Sox make financial mistakes. They do. It's that they still try to get something out of these players WHICH IS WHY THE SOX DIDN'T WANT SCHILLING TO HAVE SURGERY. You have it backwards. There was no chance he'd pitch this season if he had the surgery, and some chance if he rehabbed. The chances weren't great for either, but why not give rehab a shot? Again, you miss the point SPECTACULARLY. Why are the Red Sox the bad guys here when Schilling could have just as easily given back the $8 million and had the surgery he so desperately wanted? Oh wait - could it be because he didn't want to give back the $8 million? And the FO is being selfish? So what's the issue? They ran their business the way ANYONE ELSE would, and they continue to get flack for it. It's ridiculous.
  9. No. He would have been lost for the year if he had the surgery. No. He would have been lost for the year if he had the surgery. Bull f***ing s***. The Red Sox approached this situation as a business. Schilling approached it as a businessman. The Red Sox didn't hold a gun to Schilling's head and say "YOU CAN'T HAVE THE SURGERY." If he did, they would have voided the contract and moved on, giving him a chance to come back with another team. You can't say that the Sox were selfish and not say Schilling wasn't at the same time. Put it this way - why didn't Schilling void the $8 million himself and have the surgery on his own? Such f***ing ********. Answer me this question - Why should the Red Sox be in the business of throwing millions of dollars away without trying to get some kind of return on their investment?
  10. Lester v. some scrub. Win.

  12. Excuse me, you were leading the charge of "RE SIGN HIM FOR 2008 IN THE SPRING OF 2007" when all Epstein and Co. wanted to do was see if his shoulder/body would hold up after 2007. You were calling to sign him for $15 million. Sucks when what you wanted would have turned out to be the absolute WRONG decision, huh?
  13. So the Yanks get the last place team and the Sox get the first. Fantastic.
  14. Doesn't this hark back to my point where a supporting cast is vital to be successful in the NBA? And that calling Allen, Pierce, and KG career losers was a bit disingenuous? I didn't think they'd be this good but I'd have to call your word choice of "very, very bad" questionable. KG was going to improve them vastly all by himself and Kendrick Perkins only has defense going for him. Again, can't criticize that they were favored but only that you said they had no shot. Even after seeing them put forth the defensive efforts against Cleveland (who really has the best player on the planet) and Detroit. James Posey is a championship player. Flat out.
  15. 700 - offer sent

  17. I f***ing love Ray Allen.
  18. MVP to Pierce. AMAZING
