  1. I'm not saying it's negative or positive. It is a publicity stunt. That's all.
  2. Pass was tipped, too. Welker was fair game at that point as crude as that sounds.
  3. NFL doesn't suspend Clark for Hit on Welker: http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/12/03/nfl-defends-ryan-clarks-hit-on-wes-welker/ Here's the hit: [youtube=Clark]ShbtuyXZbFk I think they got it right.

  5. Youkilis is going to get his soon enough anyway, Lester has only had one very successful year, Papelbon got a raise last offseason. I'm sure they're working on extensions for each.
  6. Signing bonus - $1.5 million Base salaries 2009 - $1.5 million 2010 - $3.5 million 2011 - $5.5 million 2012 - $8 million 2013 - $10 million 2014 - $10 million Club option 2015 - $11 million (or a $500,000 buyout)
  7. Oh there's no doubt he's a douchebag and it should have been settled on the ice between him and Phaneuf, but the comment was moderately funny.

  9. I'm so sick of the injuries excuse...especially when the Pats play the easiest schedule in the league.
  10. A ST invite is a "waste"?
  11. Much better. Although Byrd at one year may be a better bet than Lowe at 4 or Burnett at 5.
  12. Anchor has the connotation of something solid, reliable. Has nothing to do with it being the back end.
  13. Totally spaced on Ichiro...still DiceK may have been held in even higher regard in Japan.
  14. So Gom, are the Yankees crying poverty here?

  18. lol @ "Typical Western Attitude" Players born in the US would rather play in Japan rather than the MLB? So teams, when making a business decision, will take less money just to prove a point to Boston? Doesn't make much sense. As far as I can tell DiceK has had nothing but positive things to say about Boston. He's the best pitcher to ever come out of there and arguably the best player to make the jump to the majors. Tazawa has already said the success of Boston was one of the driving factors in him coming here. You don't think others will feel the same way?
  19. lolok If a talented Japanese player WHO IS NOT UNDER CONTRACT with another organization wants to try his luck in the US (or vice versa), there's really not a hell of a lot that can be done to stop him. And they waited until his obligation to his Japanese team was over before negotiating with him. What are they going to do, Gom? Blackball the Sox, when the Sox employ arguably the greatest Japanese baseball pitcher ever?
  20. ESPN Chat from a week ago:
  21. Lots of backlash against the computers picking Oklahoma, mainly due to the H2H matchup between the two schools (Texas won by 10, for those who forget). The thing is, it can't be looked at Oklahoma and Texas by themselves, TTU is tied with the exact same record in the conference. So the question becomes, what do you find to be most impressive? TTU - Beat Texas by 6, lost to OU by 44 Oklahoma - Lost to Texas by 10, beat TTU by 44 Texas - Beat OU by 10, lost to TTU by 6 In my opinion, the nod goes to OU. The timing of the wins is also a huge factor, in my opinion. Oklahoma had more of a chance to recover after losing to Texas than Texas did after losing to TTU, and TTU after losing to OU. Oklahoma is the right choice here.
  22. Just heard on WEEI that the Pats and Bucs will play in London next season.
