  1. ...OK. I looked it up and I see he batted .191 but I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. If you're saying that Lugo is having an off year and that we should stick around with him, I disagree. If you're trying to say that it's not the worst offensive performances...I said Lugo's performance thusfar is one of the worst I've seen since I've been watching baseball and I wasn't really fully aware of Pena's 1993 season when I was 2 years old. I'm just not sure what you're trying to imply with that random year from Tony Pena's career.
  2. Julio Lugo's performance this season has been one of the most pathetic offensive efforts I've seen since I've been watching Red Sox baseball. Granted, I'm only 16 years old but that's still saying something. His average has dipped below .200 and he hasn't gotten a hit since June 15. After seeing these terrible stastics, one would assume that he's at least getting the job done in the field, however that is far from the case as he can be viewed as a liability at shortstop during points in games. So..the question is, how do you fix this problem. You have a solid middle infielder in Alex Cora sitting on the bench, but you're paying Lugo the big bucks to get the job done AND it's only June. This puts Francona in somewhat of a tight spot as to dealing with Lugo and Cora. I would say give Lugo an 8 game platform. If he can show signs of life on either side of the ball and maybe a hope of turning it around, give him some more time but if he continues to remain hitless and to be a liability in the field, give the job to Cora for the time being. In other news, why the hell have I not gone to bed yet...?
  3. Some of those picks are kind of out there...Kenny Lofton? Michael Barett? Craig Biggio? Are you aware that Andruw Jones is batting .198?
  4. RIP. I'll always remember when I saw one of his first saves (maybe his first save) at Fenway with the Sox at my friend's birthday party when I was young. We were about to leave the park but then I looked back and saw him get the final out and it was pretty sick...somewhat random memory but I'll always remember that out.
  5. Sammy Sosa has more career home runs, a much better career batting average and leads McGwire in many offensive categories. Sosa also is still playing and he has been pretty fairly decent this season so there's nothing to say that he can't play at least another year or two longer. This is not one of those scenarios where if one doesn't make it, the other shouldn't either...Sosa has been consistently better than McGwire throughout their careers.
  6. Matt Holliday too.
  7. Felix Hernandez Alex Rodriguez Albert Pujols David Wright Jose Reyes Miguel Cabrera Grady Sizemore

  9. Great...he had a decent game for once. Does that even boost his average up to .200? Runs the bases pretty well...? Please, Hinske is about as fast as Elton John is straight...He's nothing special and there's a reason why he isn't getting any playing time.
  10. Haha, its not beef, its the truth. NateGrey is ClayBucholzisDaFuture... Or maybe they have exactly the same political views, use the same phrases, both spell mindf*** like mindf*c*, and they both have the same favorite song by immortal technique...
  11. In other words, can you give us all viruses just like you tried to do with your little hacking of the website last summer, Clay...no.
  12. Interesting...the only way I'd say this was dirty is if it broke the rules, which appearently it did.
  13. First of all, read this: http://www.talksox.com/forum/fights-crap/8756-yankees-suck.html I give credit where credit is due and I like to have a balanced perspective. Some people are taking this thing way too far. Baseball is a mental game. Show me in the rule book where it says that yelling at an opposing player is foribdden...that's what I thought.
  14. I don't know who dropped the ball but whoever it was should be ashamed of A. missing a routine pop up. B. blaming it on an opposing player. This happens many times during a season and the only time this would turn into a big fiasco is when it's A-Rod. If manny did this, everyone would be saying, "Oh, that's just manny being manny.", and they'd be praising him. Baseball is a game of the mind and everytime you can get a mental advantage on your opponent, it will always work in your favor. What about in the NBA, when players scream or yell during an opponent's shot or when a player will walk up to another and try to jinx him before a free throw. There's a mental side to sports and A-Rod used it to his advantage in this instance.
  15. Haha, used to do s*** like this all the time during little league and half the time it worked. Also won the sportsmanship award one year for the league...go figure. Anyway, no it's not a dirty play and he's not a dirty player, it's just the fact that he's A-Rod that causes these things to be blown up. Slide into Pedroia=Routine play if you watch MLB baseball, a little flair at the end but no big deal. Smacking the ball from Arroyo= Play out of desperation and it was just a poor baseball decision but nothing too serious. Calling "Hah"=Part of the game...this isn't golf.
  16. KOBE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE.
  17. Well...I guess he just changed his mind and said that he wants to be a laker for life on Dan Patrick's radio show.
  18. This might just be the best evidence I've ever seen to support an argument. Haha, this thread is priceless.
  19. ESPN.com: Kobe Bryant fuming, demanding trade from Lakers This should really make the offseason exciting regardless of whether the Celtics try to acquire him or not. I've been dragged through rumors about the Celtics inquiring about Artest, the whole lottery fiasco, and Iverson rumors twice in the span of a year so I'm not going to believe anything until I see it. I still have my doubts that he'll actually leave Los Angeles but all I'll say is that it sure is a good year to have a top draft pick, expiring contracts, and a good group of young players. We'll see...
  20. The San Antonio Spurs, NBA Referees, and David Stern combine to make an undefeatable playoff machine.
