  1. Oh NO, you didnt. You got Bellhorn back with a slightly less penchant for the K but also one third the walks....
  2. You have to remember that the biggest contract given by the current sox regime was to schilling, and the highest offensive salary given by the regime was to ERent and Vtek. I dont think Lee would settle for 4 yrs 40, he would likely ask for much more than Konerko and may command Magglio money at 5 yr 75 mil. I dont see the sox shelling out that kind of coin....
  3. Also, take a look at his career. Gonzalez has had 3 yrs in which he hit for power and 3 in which he did not. Last yr, he actually got more disciplined and had his second highest average and the highest OBP of his career, but it came at the expense of his power. Also, saying that .265 was the second highest average of your career and .319 is the highest OBP of your career is pretty bad. Overall, this guy will be a black hole at the 9 spot with the occasional good AB and a good likelihood of a ton of K's...
  4. His power hit last yr always makes people speculate. You usually dont see 2 guys in a lneup go from totalling 50HRs one yr then following it up with 13 the next yr. I know the home ballpark had something to do with that, but you still have to wonder what changed between 2004 and 2005 to make such a monster difference. I dont think Gonzalez will be a power threat, as a matter of fact, I think he'll still have single digit taters and keep his average right about where it is, if not drop it. Then again, if last yr was truly a fluke, then your prediction of 15 might not be far off....
  5. are you saying I am unrealistic? All I did was post the link bub....
  6. He has his moments, (2003 vs the yankees), but he is not a really good offensive player. He was obtained for defense and defense only. He is against every single code there is in the moneyball formula. He has no eye and he has a huge swing that causes him to K too much. He'll be a one yr quick fix for you guys and he might be a late inning defensive replacement by the end of this yr....
  7. also, there is NO way that they will deal Santana. I think we all saw in the playoffs how good this kid could be. He is young, he is strong and he might be the future of the AL along with King Felix....
  8. that is scott shields, there is nobody in their organization named scott shell. Shields would be a great pickup, but he is not worth enough to be dealt for Manny. Escobar is hurt every yr whether he starts or relieves and he has a penchant for breakdowns. Rivera can only hit lefties. This would be a good way to add depth for the sox, but it in no way would make them better. s***, I hope this happens....
  9. Pedroia is a tweener player. Nobody really knows where he belongs. He has the size of a 2b, but the hands of a SS. BUT, one thing that any scouts are having trouble predicting is his ability to hit in the bigs. The general consensus is that he should hit for average and he should continue the great patience he has had thus far in the minors, but his slugging is something that will be extremely hard to predict. He is a guy of small stature and against solid MLB pitching and in some of the larger MLB parks, he may have trouble hitting the tater. Then again, he is known for "surprising pop" out of such a small guy, so who knows. My inclination is that the sox will take their time this spring and keep him up basically right until the end. They will assess his skills next to one of the best defensive SS's in the game in Gonzalez. If Pedroia holds his own and shows that his arm and size will be overshadowned by his range and hands, then he will be the SS of the future. If he gets to camp and Pedroia looks like he is a little too weak for SS, then he'll be your 2b of the future. Either way, both players currently filling those positions, Loretta and AGon, are in the last yrs of their contracts, so they can afford flexibility. My prediction is that Pedroia becomes your 2b of the future based on size alone, just take a look around the league and the only true small SS's that have had success are Furcal and Eckstein.....
  10. http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition/ny-spflash054614925feb05,0,2383528.column?coll=ny-sports-print Wouldnt mind adding him to the rotation, but dealing for Pettitte might be nice too....
  11. mulder had a good yr last yr, what are you talking about? Some of the criteria for being "done" on this site are sketchy...
  12. I plan on turning it into a keeper league after this season....
  13. LOLOLOL, never has a non-MLB HR been blown out of proportion more than this one. Hell, Bubba Crosby hit a walkoff once, maybe we should sign him long term and start him over Damon.....
  14. nah man, no money, I'm broke...
  15. there are now 9 spots open
  16. If you have trade opportunities for other players, then having extra pitching is great because you can pawn it off. How is having the extra pitching detrimental in that case? Also, with Pap, you wont have to rush him into the rotation and he can ease his way into his first full season in the bigs.....
  17. having too many pitchers is NEVER a bad thing....
  18. we have 10 open spots remaining....
  19. hate to get into your argument, but moneyball has not really won Billy Beane anything. He has had his pick of players and yet his team's offenses seem to be putrid every single yr. You need a good mix, if you have all OBP, then you wont be driving in runs, you'll just have a lot of guys on. If you have no OBP but all SLG then when you get an extra base hit, nobody will be on to score. It is all a balance. If you want to see the perfect balance, go back and look at the 2003 red sox lineup. That lineup was dirty and was loaded with OBP and SLG throughout. They worked pitchers, they killed bullpens, they got on base, and they scored runs. I disagree that SLG or OBP are any more important than the other, no matter what any pencil pusher says....
  20. wait, so you say I need to "do some research" or else I'll get picked apart, then you come out with this asinine statement. Solid work schills, I see your logic equals your SN's namesake....
  21. FACT is, he had good velocity for the most part last yr. FACT is, his problem was location and a flat splitty. Other than that, everything else is innuendo and excuse making....
  22. his strength on pushing off was fine. He was hitting 98 mph, you dont do that with a weak leg...
  23. nope, it was chacon, wang and johnson
  24. exactly....
