  1. you care, dont lie. Giambi hit his 2nd HR of the game....
  2. One thing that is actually scarier than getting hit in the head is getting hit in the nuts. That happened before, and I was one of those guys who did not like wearing a cup while pitching....
  3. I pitched for a looong time, probably a whole lot longer than you....
  4. If you cannot put it together 1 week after getting hit in the head then you don't belong on the mound. I pitched in college and I took a few off the noggin. I got one that knocked the cap off my head but didnt get my head. Then 2 batters later I got drilled in the back of the head. It hurts, it's scary, but you get right back on once the juices get flowin again. I didnt want to field anything back to me for a few weeks, but I wasnt worried about pitching.....
  5. When you take he mound, you know of the possibility of a Bryce Florie and you accept it as a fluke occasion. If you get hit in the head, you get stunned for a day or two, but you get right back on the horse. Also, hanging curves does not happen by "flinching" before the delivery, which btw is the most assinine thing I have ever heard. If he truly was "flinching" before he released, he wouldnt be able to find the plate and his post AS break BB totals were only mildly elevated. I think you guys are just making excuses for basically a mediocre pitcher who regressed to the mean....
  6. I think you might be a bit premature. 17 games into the yr, Youk and Trot have been your best hitters and Manny has been pedestrian. Youk will likely revert to norms by the end of the yr, although his norms are rather good with that high OBP.....
  7. I don't buy it, not one bit. Damn, getting hit in the head was the reason I hung that curve. Damn, those 8 runs the white sox put up on me were because I got hit in the head 3 months ago, thats it!!! If that truly is the case then he can fall back on excuses and he is a f***ing pussy....
  8. Towers is considered a control pitcher, but this early in the yr it is hard to determine intention on pitches as most pitchers are still a little rusty on location.....
  9. excuses, excuses. Pavano got hit in the temple last yr too and he had 3-4 great starts afterwards. It doesnt affect your pitching, it affects the way you react to balls coming off the bat. If he misses a few grounders back to him, then I'd understand that, but completely imploding? Not due to getting hit....
  10. he was an allstar last yr, so he pitched well in the beginning, but he crumbled late...
  11. because they are stupid canadians...
  12. seriously, there is nothing worse than getting screwed on a call and having it cost you a game. That has happened twice thus far in 16 games and if the terrible umping continues, we are going to have to battle 13 instead of 9....
  13. man, that was a great post and god insight from a former ump....
  14. solid way to spend 11 mil...
  15. ksush, Tavares is getting hit hard thus far to a tune of .333 opp BA in 5IP. But, he usually gives up his share of hits, but the thing that should be scary is what he did in ST and the propensity that he has to do it again...
  16. I though ball 3 was a better pitch than the last one...
  17. A fan from America Jr. How quaint...
  18. Isnt it baffling when you get bullpen guys who were nasty and they come into the NYY-BOS world and they suck? Riske has been hurt and ineffective, Tavares has been average, and Seanez sucks. Also, a 3 man bullpen is not going to get it done over the long haul, you need a pen that is multi-faceted and if you only have 3 effective relievers, then you wont have anybody who could hold deficits. If Foulke and Timlin are considered the bridge to Paps, who do they use if they are losing? Seanez? Tavares? Riske? If those guys dont step up, your pen will burn out...
  19. Dont put too much pressure on the kid. MDP gives you a guy with solid stuff, you dont know if he will be solid yet.....

  21. well, the sox are now only one game up in the loss column on the yankees, jays and O's. 3 in a row and Clement pitching vs the Jays in Toronto, this skid might reach the old man stopper....
