  1. I think those that think Rog would jump to the sox over the yankees for sentimentality reasons are deluding themselves. If he goes to either the yankees or the sox, he would make either team head and shoulders better in the pitching department than the other, so him picking either one because of talent is a moot point. Also, if there is one thing about Roger that I know, it is that he loves MONEY. The only team he'd take a little less money to go to is Houston. Other than that, he'll be a merc and go to the highest bidder. If things in the Bronx continue as is (2 horses and 3?'s) then I dont see the yankees getting outbid by a cost conscious ownership (the red sox).....
  2. nah, I do not like that idea at all, because then it would really interfere with the game. A timeout lost isnt too bad, but giving a eam an out, that is way too much...
  3. Buckner, Schiraldi, Bob Stanley
  4. He'll be back in about 2-4 weeks from now, as he will likely be working out in a week...
  5. with every game that the astros win, the chances of him returning to Houston dwindle. Clemens wants 3 things, money, winning and famly and he'd gladly give up either winning or family if the right money came up. I think he is less of a family man than he puts on. Now, if Houston continues to win, then they wont be so ready to hand over the big bucks because the need for Clemens wont be too high. That would turn the tables a little bit. Also, I seriously dont think the sox would be willing to outbid the yankees or even the rangers (provided they are in the race) because the sox really dont need another power starter as they already have 2 frontline guys and wake who is reliable over the course of the yr. I still think that he would like to avoid the yankees and the sox altogether, but if enough money comes along, he'll jump at it. My prediction was that he'd return to Houston, but that may be wrong. I had no idea how hot the stros are and if he makes a decision by may 1 or june 1, the stros may not be willing to hand over the dough. We'll see, but the players in this sweepstakes are getting interesting and a return to the bronx has increased in likelihood (although is still at about 30-40% IMHO)
  6. I'm not saying we'll win, but you wont blow us out...
  7. In the regular season, serviceable starting pitching with solid bullpen and offense will win you more games than a solid rotation and a serviceable pen and offense. Those teams that have both a strong pen and a strong rotation, even if it is only 1-3 will be very successful in the reg season and the playoffs. Think about it, if your pen blows half the games that your stellar starting pitching gives to them, then they neutralize your starters. But, if you get 75% of those solid pitching performances, but you close out nearly 90% of them, then you will win more games....
  8. you guys wont be blowing anybody out. The jury is still out on both of them, as they have both shown flashes of brilliance and then flashes of horror.....
  9. It will likely be Wang and Chacon for the yankees in the sox series. Also, after tuesday, the yankees will be splitting Randy and Mussina up with our fifth starter who will likely be small in 6 days....
  10. I think it also has to do with your SS, C, 3B, and 2B not being able to hit....
  11. yep, I dont just post numbers when someone is wrong...
  12. The sox are 24th in hitting at .256 The Yankees are 3rd at .298....
  13. yes, I know, but ksushi wanted to know about the OBP and there was a quote earlier about how the sox were the worst with RISP, and that is not the case....
  14. Boston in 19th in the MLB in OPS at .758. NYY is 2nd in the majors in OPS at .878 (Toronto leads at .889)
  15. The sox are 14th in the MLB in OBP at .344 (6th in the AL). The Yankees are 1st in the MLB at .388 (and it aint even close)
  16. Varitek has been awful so far....
  17. foulke gets out of it...
  18. you win, yankees up 5-1...
  19. The sox are .244 (14th in MLB) w/2outs and RISP, 3 point behind the yankees at .247 The sox are batting .239 w/RISP, 26th in the majors, the yankees are 7th at .299 The big stat Close and Late scenarios is, I believe, 7th inning or later with the score difference being 3 runs or less. The Yankees are 6th in the MLB at .290. The Sox are 29th at .202. Only the Marlins, at .148 are worse...
  20. 18LOB so far, that is a whole lot....
  21. I think it is more the fact that he hasnt really healed since his initial injury. The MRI didnt show anything in march, and it likely won show anything this time. They'll likely open him up and do an exploratory to see if there is any flaring...
  22. I'd pick a yankee win over a sox loss too. No doubt, but I am greedy and would like both all the time...
  23. not really. Most orthopedic surgeons who perform surgeries will see their patients when they have a setback from the surgery....
  24. You'd rather both, who are you kidding....
