  1. No more than 3 years. $36-$39 million. I'm sure he wants a 4th year and can get it elsewhere so we'll see how much he really wants to stay in Boston. I'll be happy for him, unless he ends up wearing a NYY uni. I'm sorry, I know we've all discussed it ad nauseum, just don't want A-Rod, no matter what.
  2. Always loved Kevin Millar, always will. Yeah, yeah, STFU Crunch!
  3. Oh, and hey A-Rod.....GFY!
  4. I'll be glad when the Sox re-sign Lowell so we can end this discussion. Yeah Mikey!
  5. Dammit, was afraid it was going to go to CC, congrats big man.
  6. November 12, 2007 Sox-Lowell still apart By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff According to sources involved in the negotiations, there might be one more attempt made before midnight to hash out a deal between the Sox and Mike Lowell. After midnight the exclusive window the Sox have had with Lowell ends and he becomes a free-agent. It doesn't mean Lowell is 100 percent gone if the sides can't reach an agreement in the next few hours, but it certainly gives Lowell and the Sox a chance to seek a free-agent deal with another team and/or player. The Red Sox have reportedly offered Lowell a three-year deal, but Lowell, according to sources familiar with the talks are pining for four years. The Sox have extended themselves more than they thought they would in offering three years, but it's evident to the Lowell side that four years at $13 or $14 million per year is attainable in the free-agent market. 9. Youkilis joins Tigers 2B Placido Polanco, Angels SS Orlando Cabrera, and Mariners 3B Adrian Beltre as AL infielders who are receiving the Gold Glove honor for the first time. Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez, Mariners center fielder Ichiro Suzuki, Twins outfielder Torii Hunter, Guardians outfielder Grady Sizemore, and Twins pitcher Johan Santana round out the 2007 AL Gold Glove winners.

  12. November 6, 2007 Schilling has weight clause By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff ORLANDO - Curt Schilling's new 1-year, $8 million deal will include $2 million worth of incentives if he meets weight requirements. The team hopes to insure that Schilling will be fit when he comes to spring training camp, a source close to the negotiations said moments ago. Schilling can earn another $2 million in clauses for meeting weight limits and an additional $3 million for performance bonues. More from the Associated Press: ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Barring any unforeseen complications, Curt Schilling will once gain be pitching in Boston when the 2008 baseball season opens. The veteran right-hander has reached preliminary agreement with the World Series champions on a one-year deal worth at least $8 million. There's an additional $5 million in bonus money that would allow him to match his 2007 salary. The deal is subject to Schilling passing a physical. Schilling turns 41 this month. He was 9-8 during the regular season this year, then went 3-0 in four starts during the playoffs to improve his postseason record to 11-2. In 2004, Schilling went 21-6 and helped lead the Red Sox to their first World Series title since 1918. Posted By: ncafardo | Time: 11:29:01 AM

  17. Good News! November 2, 2007 Farrell turns down shot at Pirates' job By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff Sox pitching coach John Farrell released a statement through the Sox, saying he planned to stay with the club rather than pursue a chance to manage the Pittsburgh Pirates. His statement said: “While I do have aspirations to manage in the major leagues in the future, my commitment to John, Tom, Larry, Theo, Tito, and the Red Sox, needs to be greater than one year for their faith in hiring me as their pitching coach. Therefore I have declined the opportunity to interview for the position of Pittsburgh Pirates manager. I look forward to contributing to and competing for another World Series title here in Boston."
