Michael Bowden is here from Triple A Pawtucket, replacing utility infielder Gil Velazquez so the Red Sox have an extra arm in the bullpen. Bowden will move back down to Triple A in favor of Julio Lugo for Monday. Manny Delcarmen, Ramon Ramirez, and Jonathan Papelbon will be unavailable tonight because of their workload over the past two days. Terry Francona decided having the extra pitcher would be the safer move over having an extra infielder. "After sitting down talking to Theo and the guys, we're like, 'OK, where can we really get hurt?' " Francona said. "That's messing up our pitching, our bullpen. If something were to happen with an infielder, the worst it would be for us would be maybe embarassing. We'd end up maybe moving [Kevin Youkilis], not being able to pinch run, which doesn't ruin our year. Something happens to your pitching, having somebdy with length is important." To Francona's allusion to a potentiall embarassing siutation, Youkilis took some groundballs at shortstop a few moments ago from infield coach Tim Bogar, and he practiced flips to second base.
