  1. It appears they will sign Middlebrooks which would be awesome, stay tuned.
  2. Who knows, he looks more like a back-up C at this point, and his trade value is very little if any. He had a great July, but has been bad in August. One thing I did notice is his Home/Away split Home: .154/.215/.243/.457 Away: .317/.412/.524/.936 idk if it means much but its a pretty big difference
  3. Lester's first start was pretty good, he looked ok, and was meh in the next couple. But tonight he looked really good, he had good velocity and his curveball especially was notable. very very nice to see
  4. thats how its done. Lester, Timlin, Gagne, Lowell, Tek and Coco what a win, what a win!
  5. Guthrie picked a bad time to revert to the mean
  6. 2/4 with a 2B tonight. Also had his 15th OF assist tonight.
  7. yes!
  8. Beautiful performance from Wake and Paps. Nice win!
  9. Sure, but 4 innings is 4 innings, no matter how bad its way too small a sample size. Farnsworth came to the Yankees and has been a bad MR, he had a good 2005 before he came here but his numbers since joining the organization look a lot more like 2004 than 2005, not to mention his strikeout numbers have completely dropped off this season. Gagne was a franchise CL in his Dodger days, got injured and came back with Texas and threw nearly 30 quality innings. I saw him multiple times pitch against us and a couple other teams and looked very good, notably his breaking pitches. I think he's proven a lot in his career and this season that no matter how bad he has looked that he shouldn't be written off for 2007. Just because he's had a bad debut so far doesn't mean he's completely fallen off the map and turned into a Farnsworth. If it continues all season we'll see but I see no reason why he can't be the pitcher we traded for. EDIT: and obviously I have no worries that Wang will return to form, but the point stands that the sample is way too small. Heck even Rivera had a 12.15 ERA after his first 8 appearances in 07' and hes bounced back more than good.
  10. does francona want to win games or what?
  11. Im curious what is your opinion of Pedro Martinez?
  12. Not that I have to explain this since you know exactly why you started that other thread, but this thread actually asks a legit question. Where was the Farnsworth > Gagne thread when he first got here?
  13. Its your first post and already its blatantly clear that you have an agenda against Epstein. Of course you attack Theo for making a deal for a MR with a proven track record and a 2.15 ERA on the season. Why not put the blame on Francona for taking out Oki to begin with or even better Gagne himself? Gagne pitched in 4 games vs. us before coming here and looked very good doing so, I don't see any reason why he's just lost everything because he hasn't.
  14. I thought he would be used in the fashion he has been, I hoped he would become the 7th inning/close situation guy given that Oki is the best set-up man in baseball. We lost two games because of our bullpen and our best reliever pitched 1/3 of an inning, nice job tito!
  15. Really really close this season between the two. Their overall offensive production is really closer. I haven't seen Cano play that often and Pedroia is a pretty sound defender out there. Too close to call right now, I dont think you could go wrong with either.
  16. the puck drops here, lets right this ship!
  17. theres no reason papelbon cant go two innings, absolutely none. unless hes hurt which he isnt then we need to stop babying him, he's probaly the best reliever on this team and he hardly ever gets used. And Francona just leaves snyder to get killed out there, im sick of his act, you dont take out your set-up man mid-inning.
  18. Starting this early since I wont really be here tomorrow Game Info: Date: Sunday, August 12, 2007 Teams: Boston Red Sox (70-46) @ Baltimore Orioles (53-62) First Pitch:1:35pm EDT Venue: Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://www.worldmag.com/images/content/11_schilling.jpg Curt Schilling vs. http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2007/05/28/PH2007052801339.jpg Steve Trachsel Lately its occurred to me and probaly everyone else that the Yankees are a very good baseball team. They have been playing bad teams but at the same time they are just better, I have no doubt unfortunately that the Yankees are right there with the Red Sox as the two best teams in baseball. At the moment I don't think we can rely on other team's help for winning this division. We need to play good baseball. We need to stay consistent. We need to keep winning games. Something this team is very capable, tell Josh Beckett, Dicek Matsuzaka and Curt Schilling that this team can't win a World Series and you'd get laughed at. I wouldn't spend as much time here and on forums and watching games if I didn't believe this team didn't have a very good chance to possibly win a World Series. No mojo again today, we dont need it, we are a dam good baseball team. just win.
  19. Im not sure when your released by a historically bad pitching staff that a contending team will be picking you up anytime soon
  20. oh come on lowell wtf
  21. .313 BA with an .825 OPS in July .361 BA with an .813 OPS in August definetly encouraging
