  1. I'm not saying he's NEVER had a big hit...but I'd really be curious to see his stats this year with RISP...or in the late innings of a game...etc. If you give ANY big leaguer enough at bats in big situations, he's obviously going to get a hit or two...but someone like Loretta should be farrrr more consistent than he has been. Then again, we got Mirabelli back, so it's basically like we traded Bard, Meredith, and some cash for Loretta, which doesn't look like too bad of a deal...
  2. I'm not running him over just yet... I just have the keys to the bus in hand and I'm about to leave the house...
  3. I was thinking the exact opposite...it's Tek calling the pitches, and he knows AL hitters better than anyone else I can think of. I'd say the advantage is definitely in the pitchers favor for first time at-bats.
  4. I just laughed out loud at that. I feel the same way about the name Todd.
  5. I haven't seen Loretta make a single play this year that couldn't be made by any average defensive second baseman in the league. We got him for his bat, and he's not hitting. He doesn't look like he even TRIES in the field, that's what gets me. Even if you can't make a clean play on a ball, show some freaking effort. That ball hit by Cano, if he could have just dove and gotten in front of it and kept it from making it's way into the outfield, he would have saved a run.
  6. You didn't miss much...Loretta into a DP.
  7. Youk swinging 3-1? I don't know if I agree with that...
  8. I like what I've seen...although it's basically bases juiced with 2 outs now that freaking AGone is up...
  9. Ha, that Cano play was exactly the one that I was talking about, he looks like he really doesn't give a s*** in the field. Manny...for the LOVE OF GOD...DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT headfirst slide...ever. Thanks for the hustle though.
  10. Can Mark Loretta not dive? I don't understand it. You're not hitting Loretta, let's at least show some effort in the field!

  12. I think you have to have like 150 at-bats to have it be your rookie season...it could be 250, but that seems like a lot...
  13. I think the MVP thing would DEFINITELY be a stretch...I'd have to think that a starter would get it if any P was going to, or maybe not? Starters only throw every five days...who knows? All I know is this kid is the real thing. I've never rooted so hard against any of my fantasy players as I did against ARod when he came up against Little Pappy the other night in the 9th. How freaking awesome was it that the kid showed the cahones to throw a high fastball right down broadway to the argueably the best player in the game? Priceless, absolutley priceless. My favorite part of the season thus far, easily. I loved Tito's idea to get him into a Yanks game even though it wasn't a save situation, they could have easily let Timlin pitch the rest of the game. Getting his feet wet in the rivalry, and hearing how utterly NUTS Fenway can get was, I think, an AWESOME move. Did Papelbon get into any games at the Stadium last year? And another thing...another 70 some-odd consecutive converted save opportunities and we're at Gagne level
  14. I'm with you...they can't get big hits, and Schilling and Beckett are the only two that really pitch, and even they have been shakey lately. I'm scared of what's to come. I haven't lost all faith, but this is going to be a long season if the Sox keep going 1-17 with RISP. I don't know how many 15-3 ballgames I've got in me.
  15. I'm not going to be one to sit here and say I agree with every single solitary thing that America has done during my life time and will do in the duration of my lifetime, but I'm sick and tired of these people. It seems like the "in" thing to do now to be anti-american, anti-bush, anti-establishment, whatever, and it's absolutley retarded. Especially because 90% of people have ABSOLUTELY no idea what they're complaining about, they just heard other people doing it, so they started doing it to. Everyone fails to answer the question "If the US is so bad, why don't you leave?" The funny thing is, I'm not yelling "GET OUT!" to them, but merely asking them why, if they hate the Country so much, they continue to live here. I'm a huge believer in taking the good with the bad. There's some things that go on here that I don't like, but there's an overwhelming amount of unbelievable opportunities afforded to us because we live in the country that we do. Go ahead and burn the flag, doing so is a symbol more of your ignorance than anything else. Plus...I think it'd be fun to shove a burning flag down their pants.
  16. Hahahahahaha "...and, appearing as Margo in 'The Wade Boggs Story' is...Suzyn Waldman!"
  17. Kevin Elster and Raffy Palmeiro were faaaaaaamous for ransacking other player's wives...I think I heard somewhere that Raf even did it in the clubhouse while the game was going on. I want to say that this is the reason that Will Clark HAAAAAAAAAATES Palmeiro, but I don't really remember where I heard that. Oh boy...these baseball players, there's some real class acts out there. I can't fault anyone for that ball girl...man oh man, she's hot. What percentage of married professional athletes do ya'll think are actually 100% faithful? Do you think even 25%? I doubt it's even close to that number. Anyone have any info previously as to why Suzyn Waldman got the job on YES! and now the radio broadcast? That still escapes me. She's dreadful, and I've posted about this before, but I don't think anyone ever came forward with what the hell got her into that position. I can't wait for more from this thread! Damn, we're such gossips!
  18. Very true, but he's cheap for now, if he keeps performing like this, his price is going to go through the roof.
  19. That's the thing though, Ortiz doesn't HAVE to lay a bunt down like that. With the shift that teams are playing on him, he should be able to run backwards down to first base as long as he hits it anyway toward third base. I love the idea of an Ortiz longball, but if Manny heats up, I don't hate Ortiz ALWAYS being on base for him.
  20. Which Yankee positions are you talking about? Posada, Giambi, Cano, Jeter, ARod, Sheff, Matsui, and Damon....call me crazy, but I don't see the weak link.
  21. I was going to say the saaaaame thing. You've got your worst SP going against a former (and in my opinion, probably future) Cy Young award winner...you've gotta get some bats in there. I understand Tek not being in, he caught 12 innings last night, but you've gotta put Youk at first and Lowell at 3rd, and Alex Cora? Common. Not that AGone is Miguel Tejada, but I'd say he's superior to Cora, albeit slightly. Ugh..Dinardo got shelled today and Wells is done, IMO...any chance we can talk Tito into going into a 4 man rotation? :dunno:
