  1. Seriously. Hopefully Ortiz finds it before Manny cools down...as long as we have one of them swinging the stick like this, they can carry this team for weeks at a time. And if they find it together...woah boy, hold on.
  2. FINE, BUT IF CAPS ARE COMING BACK, SO IS MAGENTA BECKETT K'S SEVEN A ROD'S TIPS ARE WICKED GAY GIVE MOOSE HUGHES TREATMENT
  3. Beckett K's Seven A Rod's tips are wicked gay Give Moose Hughes Treatment
  4. I think limericks are for bats, but haikus are for the arms. Our bats had no problem last night...let's see how good your syllables are.
  5. What's everyone looking for in return for Crisp? High mid-level prospects? Middle relief help?
  6. Yo...is anyone else watching the game on Yes?? There was just a commercial for Center Stage with Joba Chamberlain...Jesus Christ, that guy is a f***ing goblin.
  7. Anyone know if Ellsbury is starting today?
  8. The first comment on the first page, posted by Kilo, was my comment from last night's gamethread. I wasn't responding to anyone in particular, moreso clarifying my point of view. SO LEAVE ME ALONE, OK?!?!?!?!
  9. I didn't say anything about his game calling or his defense...I talked about his value to the pitching staff. That takes into account a number of things, the majority of which are behind-the-scenes. I really wish there was a way to check this, but I guarantee if you did an anonymous survey of all the arms in the league as to what catcher they want to throw to, Tek would get the majority of first place votes. Pitchers love this guy...there has to be a reason for it even if we don't see it on the field. Regardless...Tek's days are numbered in Boston for the first time ever, IMO. He's the 2010 catcher, maximum. If his replacement isn't Kottaras, then we'd better start looking around soon.
  10. I love the small sample size...the kid was on fire during the small sample size. Would I love to see him do it for a full season? Of course. Do I expect it? Of course not. Ells, playing everyday in the leadoff spot, will give us .290 95 R 10 HR 55 RBI 25 SBs. I'll take that every day of the week.
  11. I agree with you...but KC is also closing in on a sweep of Tigers, arguably the best team on paper in the league. And Dmitri Young was on pace to hit 162 HRs after 4 games a few years back. These type of anomalies will level off as the season continues. I agree, the Sox offense has looked pretty dismal...but when Manny and Ortiz stop hitting .000 with RISP, and when Crisp is finally moved and Jacoby takes over every day...I totally believe that the offense will improve drastically and far less LOBs will be a result. NOTE TO TITO: You don't "develop a young player" by dropping him down from a lineup spot where he has flourished in his only big-league experience and then give him sporadic playing time.
  12. Yea...Crisp rakes Harden, apparently. Well, to whatever extent it is that Coco Crisp can rake, anyways.
  13. I'm really happy with the way Ellsbury is swinging the bat. He was only 1 for 5 tonight but he was putting good swings on the ball. Two of his shots to left I thought off the bat would fall in but they hung up long enough for Brown to make a play on them. I think great things are to come for Jacoby.
  14. Man, I just want to see Jacoby get up again. I have such a crush on this kid it's ridiculous.
  15. I'm going to trash Tek every time he gets up...
  16. I said that he was invaluable behind the plate...I'm still giving him credit for his performance on the other side of the ball even though that has deteriorated as the years have passed as well. I also know that a team will take an outstanding offensive catcher over an outstanding defensive catcher any day. Look at Mike Piazza...dude sucked behind the plate yet never had a problem finding a home.
  17. Have you watched the Sox the past few years? .255 last year, .238 the year before... It's not just this season. And besides, what I said was more of a prediction than anything else. I said that it would hit rock bottom this year...and I think it will. With his value to the pitching staff, we can deal with .255...but if you think sub .250 is far off, you're sorely mistaking. Hit that ball hard at least...
  18. Well, I'm going to up and say it. Tek is an offensive liability now. It has been getting progressively worse and worse, and I think this year it hits rock bottom. He's invaluable to the pitching staff, but at what time to do we look to replace him on a longterm basis?
  19. Yea no way they pick up a $20 million option if he puts together another year like last year, let alone two $20 million options like Manny's suggesting. Who knows, maybe "The Secret" has brought Manny back to the Manny of 04 and those two options will be a no-brainer for the Sox? I certainly hope so...but you never know with this character. One thing that's for certain though...no way the Sox sign him for another four years AFTER the two option years. I think Manny's gameplan is a little off base. Prove me wrong, ManRam.
  20. I hear Susan Waldman's contract is expiring...let's keep our fingers crossed!
