  1. You seem to just not understand that he was making a comment about what he saw with his own eye. It's nothing to be bashed on. Yes one or two guys can comments about how he might be wrong, we get a few laughs, ect. It's clearly labeled that he is basing his comments on personal view. He already was scolded by some members of the board, so stop. It's not necessary. No one is calling him a bust or whatever. You don't need to defend Lars because he feelings might get hurt ot because one poster on one Red Sox board said something negative.
  2. Farnsworth type? Sox Prospects much? Listen I'll agree right now he isn't much, but IMO this kid has the ability to be a lights out reliever. Just give him a couple of years. Joba will end up with a better career, barring any type of injury. But the JD Drew/Melky comparison is a little much for me.
  3. Now see I have no problem with this. I have no trouble waiting for someone to develop when the Red Sox are in the shape they are. He doesn't need to be ready now, he's got plenty of time to grow and then be groomed. The BB/9 point was already made by me and he made huge strides lowing it to somewhere slightly above 3. It's a project, I haven't and won't dispute that. He's got tons of upside for us. I'm sure he'll develop better command and refine a couple of secondary pitches. What I think you're not including in your thoughts is Joba's ability to get hit with the injury bug. They saw this before he was even drafted. He just sounds like the type that needs to make the move to the bullpen to continue being a great player. By me proclaiming he's our Joba I'm making a notion he'll have the tremendous fastball and have nice secondary pitches. Will his secondary pitches ever reach Joba's level? Probably not, but few do. His fastball is what could give him an edge, as the potential to be plus, plus is there. What I'm essentially trying to get across is if we bring him along right, he'll be very similar to a bullpen Joba. That's all.
  4. What's you deal on this board? I stated an opinion and yet you retort with idiot comments. At least provide something to the board, because I read it quite often and find you to be a terrible poster. If you can't do this, then just read the comments. It makes zero sense to reply with something like that. Give some facts to support your thoughts or continue with the great ability you have of acting like a kid.
  5. I compared Bard to Joba for a couple of reasons. Bard is still a question mark, but so was Joba when he came out of the draft. Both have electric stuff, maybe Bard doesn't have the same number of plus pitches, but he also has alot of time to spend in the minors. Also add for my own personal opinion that Joba will soon be back to the bullpen. With Mo soon to be retiring the Yankees will need someone. I see Joba coming out and requesting to become the next closer. Still the I don't think he can handle the wear and tear with becoming an elite starter or closer, but it's more likely he could achieve the latter. And with the comparison I'm wasn't reaching as in today's terms. Give Bard a couple of seasons and in 2011 we'll see the comparisons coming forth.
  6. HARDCor3 4 postz ina row to show my intelligence!!!!SHIFT+1!
  7. Convictions aren't necessary to understand what Sosa and McGwire were doing during their careers. Just because there is no hard evidence doesn't mean they're any less guilty. First hand sightings of injections, along with evidence that both were on amphetamines, can lead to more than speculation that both were on PEDs while active players. Add to evidence of Sosa's weight lost and McGwire's inability to admit to anything in front of Congress results in both being highly likely to be involved with steroids. Now with Ortiz we have an overweight slugger who resembles a fast food abuser, compared to a steroid junkie. Realize that Ortiz has never be accused, never had a significant weight loss or gain in his career, and asides from a breakout season, has no evidence of every taking PEDs. Steroids taken whether while working out or not would lead to a weight increase, or most likely a muscle increase. There are other results but the muscle gaining is ideal one. Can you honestly sit and argue that Ortiz has gained muscle/lost weight in a dramatic fashion? Seriously just take of the middle school girl panties and man up. There's no sense in acting like a punk, kid.
  8. Short and sweet. Just the way I like it. Seriously though... that was really long.
  9. I think it's becoming apparent that a lot of the young players that Boston has don't want to leave. They know that they are getting an amazing amount of money if they sign a long term deal. They also know they won't be receiving as much as they could. It's the sacrifice they willingly make to stay on a contending club and an amazing baseball organization. The Sox will not undermine these guys, especially Lester. They've done everything willingly and will be rewarded accordingly.
  10. Wow really getting those draft picks now huh?
  11. He's never proven anything in the minors maybe?
  12. Ludwick and Pena was never given a chance anywhere they went. Ankiel was a pitcher and transformed himself. Brown is someone who we shouldn't have in any plans for the MLB club. Maybe with some major injuries of several players he could get a chance, but right now I don't see much. Still if he makes it to the majors and contributes, great for him, whether it be for the Red Sox of some other club. I have no reason to sit here and deny his dream, I would just rather have someone else for the position before him.
  13. SS because that's what he wanted to play. I'm pretty sure it was sit he was playing there or not going to be sign.
  14. Take a look. Offer a one year contract for 10 mil, with a second year option. Then if he approaches say 160 innings, have the second automatically kick in for a simliar salary.
  15. I think it's totally possible. He's probably one of the most pissed off people in the world right now. He'll work hard this off season and I think it will translate into a magical 2009 season for him, barring any injury.
  16. With your theory Tek would suck every year because he would fear his opinion not being picked up. Two/Three years at six million per, possible seven will get it done.
  17. He deserve a major cut back next year it he wants to come back. Three years and at most 7 million a year. I thought it was just a long funk going on, but damn, he's almost done.
  18. I think Clay is held in much higher standards that Ian Kennedy. Kennedy was projected to be a 4th/5th starter, Clay more on the lines of a 2nd, possibly even 1st. Also I think you have seen Melky peek. He might repeat his 07 stats more frequently, but will not significantly increase anything. Jacoby has the tools to be a .300 B.A./ .370 OBS/ 50 SB while playing Gold Glove CF. Also think of Petco park and it's huge outfield, I'm sure Jacoby could leg out a few doubles into triples.
  19. Idk it just seems that the Yankees are going to be going all in this year. Including signing, trades, releases... whatever. This off-season is going to further bloat the market. It's pitiful how it is now.
  20. Risky though even if the guy has been a 180 innings pitcher. If something terrible goes wrong, it's all shot. I agree that they should wait. The only think that worries me is the Yankees having some pieces to fill out the trade. It just depends if they want to take a few questionable pitches.
  21. It's reported it took them 20 minutes for him to reach a hospital
