Meyer has fallen as a prospect as BA has him at 21 on the A's list.....They don't have alot in their farm system in terms of pitching as its in A ball. Since graduating alot of their kids the system has taken a big hit in terms of talent.
Zito also benefits greatly from pitching in the spacious Oakland Coliseum. He is a flyball pitcher that won't have that benefit coming to fenway park. And Beckett has not disappionted....What 2 starts and now he is a disappointment. Its too early to deem him a disappointment or that the sox need to part with their farm system for a pitcher who is not as good as he is hyped out to be.
Ellsbury is going nowhere and the Sox will not part with either Lester or Hansen for Zito who can be had in the offseason. And Moss is falling fast is a prospect so I would doubt the A's would want him. The Sox do not need to part with the system for an overrated pitcher such as Barry Zito.
kiecker get lost and don't trash SFOC like that when he is the most generous person on this board and is more established than you and actually contributes things unlike you.
Final line for Abe - 6 innings, 7 hits, 0 runs, 0 bb, 6 K's - all 6 K's swinging against Rochester today.
Abe on the season now moves to 5-0 with a 2.18 era
A few years ago the Orioles were giving the Sox problems....Not anymore.....Baltimore is such a sad organization now.....If a team has to employ players like Millar then you know you are in trouble.
Easy win today.....Good prediction Riv as your O's win was way off. Nice job by Dinardo and now the Sox are setup pitching wise for the trip to the Bronx.
In theory that is the plan but that does not always work as all prospects don't pan out so the Red Sox will still need to fill some holes via free agency and this new contract will allow even more money to do that along with having the extra money in order to spend on the international market along with the MLB draft in which they can draft tough signs and have the money to sign them.
So a team with a 125-130 million dollar payroll is really pocketing cash and not putting it back into the team or player development. Riv just focus on your own team because the sox have put cash back into this team. The sox don't need to spend to ridiculous amounts of upwards of close to 200 million to compete. Its all how you spend the money and the sox didn't want to give damon his contract because he was on the wrong side of 30.
The deal with Entercom (WEEI/WRKO) is for 10 years at 200 Million dollars. Its the richest Radio contract in MLB History.

I think you are dead wrong. The Sox feel very strong that Lester could contribute in the second half of the season and after the heavy workload last year wanted to keep his innings down in the early part of the season.
