    Bad scoring. That play should have been an error all the way, not a hit and an error. The ball was hit sharply. There was plenty of time to make the throw.

    When Ortiz was with the Twins, the regular first baseman most of those years was Doug Mientkievicz who may have been a been one of the best glove men that I have ever seen at first. At Boston, Mientkievicz, Youkilis (a gold glover) and Olerud (gold glove) have been ahead of him. While no one is going to mistake Ortiz for Keith Hernandez at first base, the big guy is not that bad in the field. He has very good hands, decent footwork and a good arm. He is certainly better than Delgado who has atrocious hands. Ask Mets fans than watched that horror show. Also, Delgado's bad hip has impaired his mobility to the point where he has almost no range. I don't doubt that they will play Delgado at first ahead of Ortiz, but it will not be pretty.

    Almost all of the Philly fans left town today before the game. I saw the buses leaving from the Park Plaza. Too bad for them. They are worse than Yankee fans.

    That is not good news at all, and we have him for two seasons along with Cameron. The Sox docs have come under fire for misdiagnosing Ellsbury and now Hermida, but I guess they also missed Cameron's hernia and Scutaro's bulging discs in the physicals prior to signing. A year or two back they missed Kotsay's bad back, and let's not forget Schilling's shoulder and Lowell's hip. Rosenthal wrote it, so he'll probably still be on the bench in September, because Rosenthal is almost always wrong. He's the anti-me.
