  1. How is it that a yankee fan of all people seems to know more about what is good for the Red Sox than some of my colleagues here know? And this is no joke. You got it right Jacko.
  2. Hey, we agree. Kemp is also a terrific talent that is heavily injury prone and has a strong tendency to loaf on the bases and in the field. The Dodgers will trade him only if they want to get rid of him and for that we don't give them any of our top prospects. If they don't like that, sell him to somewhere else. They want to trade us Kemp? We tell them that for Cecchini or WMB or Renaudo or Owens, it is a non starter.
  3. I'd be willing to bet Pedroia is whispering ( or shouting) in Henry's ear to get Ethier, his best friend, for the Red Sox. If that means he platoons in LF with Gomes, Nava goes to 1B and we let Napoli walk.......NO f***ING THANKS!!!!!! Ethier can't hit lefties to save is sorry ass and has been tabbed out here as a very self centered and selfish player. With Pedey around that might change but why change at all? Nava and Gomes are good to go in LF, Vic was the best all around RF in the league this season and for pete's sake let's give Bradley a chance to show what he can do in center. Do I hear Lucchino in the background meddling again about his penchant for having experience over youth on the ball club. For a guy who calls the Yankees the evil empire he sure seems to embrace their philosophy. If it is you Larry doing this stuff, put a sock in it.
  4. Why does it have to be WMB or Cecchini? If they are good bats you find a place for both of them. You do convert players to different positions. We can do that with them. And the Red Sox ought to start thinking along those lines in my opinion.
  5. Bravo to you again Mark. I cannot understand how so many of our colleagues here are so anxious to trade Middlebrooks. Guys that can hit 30 homers are becoming very rare and we could have two such animals on the left side of our infield. If Kemp is going to be traded to the Red Sox by the Dodgers it means only that the Bums want to get rid of him and get some good young players that they have very little of. f*** them!!!!! Give them Dempster and a couple of average prospects and if they so now they can go to hell. We need to keep our young prospects especially if they are rated high since the Sox seem to be no longer interested in long term FA contracts for players escaping from another team. And BTW, how about we start talks for an extension for Jon Lester, or do we want to see him in pinstripes in a couple of years? Remember this...the Yankee farm system is s*** warmed over.
  6. As I said in an earlier post, as long as he doesn't close. I don't like him there at all but as a set-up man this could be a good signing for us. You can never have too many good arms in the bullpen.
  7. I saw Mujica blow a two run lead to the Angels late last Spring or early summer, so my impression of him is a bit on the bearish side, but as long as he is not our closer, and he isn't, I think he might get the job done for us. You can never have enough good arms in the bullpen, a source of strength for us this past season the way things played out. And User, if we do trade a starter as part of a big deal, Workman might just be ready to go into the rotation. Now for Napoli, right out there mvp?????
  8. BSN, you guys are really trying to vamp up my enthusiasm for what MIGHT happen. It would be all time if Cano left the New Yorkers but as Bellhorn says, I'll believe it when I see it. I wonder if you and others really believe that Robbie would leave the Yanks for the West Coast. Man, I sure hope you gents are on to something because it so the Yanks are pretty right back where they started. They get Ells and lose Cano? That's a net loss in my book. McCann's signing gives it a slight plus.....Mariano and Pettitte leaving make it a minus again. Or am I also out on a limb? It all comes down to Robinson Cano's destination.
  9. I second that Mark and User. Let's see that happen.
  10. Well I decided to stand down and not do it. I just hope we do sign Nap. I think he is a terrific fit for the Red Sox. Help out with some good thoughts that Ben inks him within the next week or two.
  11. I love this team too VA--to the point that I sometimes go off the deep end over them. Understand this...I never said we should sign Ellsbury if it was going to take the kind of money the Yankees were throwing around. It is just the fact that it was those rotten bums who got him and that is why I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Cano ends up elsewhere. I also have faith in Ben. He certainly won me over with the job he did last year even though I wish he would move just a mite faster now. However, no matter how you slice it, the Yankees have to look up at us; we are the World Champions and they are following deep in the rear and that alone helps to make us all happy. BTW, my dogs survived my rants last night and my wife tuned me out completely. Back to normal around here.
  12. I like the way my friend Mark is talking too----if it goes as he thinks it will. I also want to see the Yankees shut out in the Tanaka chase as well. It still pisses me off to see teams like them and the Dodgers trying to buy their way to a championship and pisses me off more than there are teams that still allow Boras to take them to the cleaners because money is no object to them.
  13. Now that I would love to see. I hope to hell that happens. I want the Yankees to get it right in the shorts and pray that the M's or Nats don't get cold feet and crap out on that. Cano elsewhere would make Ellsbury's signing a minus overall, though with McCann also on board they will have improved a little. And someone other than them need to get Tanaka. I wonder if we'll make a bid on him.
  14. Let's just move on without the insults and concentrate on the business at hand.....what we need to do in order to be ready for next year. It is irritating enough that the Yankees always follow a title by us either by a spending spree or a major trade or two, and I would just like to steal one of their players for a change. I don't care what anyone says, the MF Yankees get absolutely paranoid and psychotic every time the Red Sox win a World Series. We just need to stay ahead of them and let the chips fall where they may. It is clear this is the only way the Yankees can operate since their farm system is a disgrace.
  15. Well it makes no difference to either of us now anyway User. Ellsbury is gone and there was no way in hell the Red Sox should have offered anything close to what the Yankees gave him......seven years? Two years too many. $153 million? Way too much. On that there is total agreement between us. I'm more mad at the Yankees than Ellsbury. They are back trying to buy themselves a title the way they did after their big spending spree in 2008, and that would frost me if they came back next year and won the WS. We must not let that happen. As for Cano, I really pray that the Mariners are really going to stop bullshitting and really come out with a major deal that will keep Cano out of New York. If that happens they would actually be minus since Robbie is a better all around player than Jacoby.
  16. Dupree, User keeps talking about reading comprehension but apparently doesn't practice what he preaches. Your missive was easy to read and to follow but since it was more than two or three sentences it became an arduous enterprise for the guy to read. Now he is trying to tell me that I never said Ells was going to the Yankees when I kept saying it and warning everyone along with Mark that there was where he was going. Anyway, take it with a grain of salt. Good post.
  17. And I'll keep posting it until they do sign him. I'm a pretty persistent fellow and I never let go, never!!!!!. If they fail to sign him and we wind up with some fraud not as good as Nap you will hear from me again and again and again and again.
  18. No you can't. . No revisionist history here User. If some of you thought that you didn't come out and say like we did so don't give me any of that s***. You can round up five or six and they can tell you that's what they believed but all I saw here were mutterings about how the Yankees didn't need him, weren't interested in him, how he was going to Seattle and all that sort of ********. Mark Va and I were the only three who came out and said it and kept saying it. On that score we reinvented the wheel. So please no more revisionist history. You didn't think he was going to the Yankees and neither did the rest of the board because just about everyone said he wasn't going there. Now go find me someone besides the three of us who said what your saying. Good hunting.
  19. If Cherington is not giving us a load of ******** he knows damn well he has a free agent who played for us this past season who qualifies on both counts. Napoli wants to win and knows how. And he knows how to lead and he has said repeatedly he wants to stay in Boston. So Ben, stop talking and sign the guy.
  20. Don't get your hopes too high Thunder. They will lose Granderson just as long as we don't get him. As for Cano I'll believe it when I see him signing with some other team. Seattle? A bunch of gutless talkers who can never follow up on anything. That's why they're turds in the AL West.
  21. Hey Mark, how about your friend SBF? Don't leave me out in the cold. Besides, you VA and I were the only three posters who correctly predicted that filthy turncoat would wind up with the Yankees.
  22. No Dojii, you have every right to express your opinion just as I do mine. As for Bradley, he is a good athlete and very coordinated and he should be able to steal some bases for us. If he is going to bat leadoff for the Red Sox he must be albe to run. Keep in mind that Pedroia doesn't have blazing speed but learned to steal bases by working on his running and studying pitchers. And stereotype or not, there are a lot of American-African ballplayers batting leadoff for teams who can run. We should expect that of a player who has the tools to do it if he will work hard at it. We need that.
  23. Or else his ass is on the bench and next winter we look for a CF who can run and hit. Now that doesn't sound crazy even though the guy writing it was in a psychotic frame of mind last night.
  24. That's a very big damn IF!!!!!!
  25. Well he better learn how to steal bases and he sure as hell had better hit because if Ells has a banner year next season for the MF Yankees and Bradley sucks for us his ass will run out of town in a year or two. The fans will not tolerate a star like Ells being replaced by another Coco Crisp. Jackie has to produce.
