  1. you think the one about manny tokin' up in the monster is true, I remember he even had the song "I get high" by styles P played over the intercom once.
  2. The velocity on that fastball says alot, power behind that arm makes him a potentially lethal starter, but there's no way to tell until they give him the ball. I dare say, hopefully we can start seeing more of number 58.
  3. We should give Foulke some credit he looks like he's starting to come into form, Tavares could use some anger managment also

  5. check it out: http://www.yawkeywaystore.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=TA0094 Do they know something we don't?
  6. It's truly sad, here was a player who against the advice of his agent signed for a discount anyways, and now is screwed over by the front office who have found an excuse to trade away a quality starter not to mention a fan favorite... that s*** about clement and pittsburgh better not happen now that they pulled this off... and i bought an arroyo tshirt too wtf. so long and thanks for all the memories
  7. Another thing, he was robbed in 2002 by barry zito, check it out Pedro 239 K 2.26 era 20-4 0.923 whip ZIto 182 K 2.75 era 23-5 1.134 whip wtf?? you tell me who deserves a Cy!
  8. "As you all probably know, the Red SOx have a policy when it comes to retired numbers. 10 Years with the Sox, and must be inducted into the Hall as a Red Sock. That being said, Pedro didnt spend 10 years in Boston, but definately will be inducted with a B on his plaque cap. Do you think the SOx should make an exception? I mean, even though i'm a Yankee fan, I cant picture somebody else wearing number 45 for the Boston Red Sox." The best memory I have of him is during the ALDS against Cleveland, The legendary relief appearance he made, pitching 6 perfect innings to close it out, it's moments like that that make his tenure in Boston untouchable, he truly was THE best pitcher the city has even seen, no question. As much respect I have for his predecessor, Pedro exemplifies the term "ace". yes his number should be retired after he is inducted into the hall of fame, the same should be done with #21. And yea Im buying tickets to all three games, dont give a s*** how much it costs
  9. Hey, as you can probably imagine I am a very big Pedro Martinez fan. What I'm not sure about though is if he will in fact pitch when the Mets come to town in June. what day if he does do you suppose he would? it's a three game series, but I wanna make suray I buy tickets for the approximate day.
  10. yea, I'm in.
  11. Anything doing with Griffey in Cincinnati?? there was some miniscule talk but then nothing more was said. dont know if its something worth looking into or not, but they claim to be in need if starting pitching, something this team has a surplus of. The team just being put under new ownership might be to the advantage in getting a trade done, or it could go the exact oppoiste.
  12. Henry must have finally got lucchino to back off enough, thats prolly the only way he agreed to return
  13. I wonder what "capacity" will it be??
  14. yup boston dot com has it "baseball operation capacity" full time, more announced net week http://www.boston.com/
  15. Obviously Zambrano would be preffered over Prior, I am definatly in favor of this deal if it works out, however Prior is too much of a risk at this point to be considered a fair trade for giving up Manny, Landing Zambrano would give us without question the most potent rotation in baseball, and an absolute opportunity at postseason play. Reminder, the 2003 Athletics were in much the same position, with pitching being their strength, projected rotation: #1 Schilling #2 Zambrano (or Prior) #3 Beckett #4 Clement #5 Papelbon I like the looks of this
  16. Have you all completely lost your minds?? I have a question, when does the FO's incompetence become so much that we start to see things for what they really are?? and the answer to that is the revenue that the owner and organization care to generate, and the fact that they could care less about the team they have on the field, what matters to them is that the tickets get sold. How many great players have gone by the wayside, only to villify Boston afterwards, is this purely coincidental?? And we simply take the Red Sox side of the argument, rather than accept the fact our organization has once again shown it's inability to perform. Nevermind free agent acquiistions gone by the wayside, (most notably millwood, burnett) we can't keep players within our own organization happy, and it shows in the looming players we have to trade, as well as those who knew better than to come back. The Herald had an eye opening picture this afternoon that showed the team photo of what WAS a world championship team, In place of those who have since left was a black outline. Needless to say, things looked just as dark in the paper as does this teams future. My advice to those concerned like myself, Wake up, the glory days are over, and the reason why they are is because things are left in the hands of Larry Lucchino & Co..... I'll believe that things are looking up when I see the team is at least no longer in THIRD place in our division, which looks indefinite at this point..... 2004, one and DONE
  17. Ironically it is one year to the day that Pedro Martinez left, I got an idea for a new T-shirt we might see coming over the bridge to Kenmore after games next year : "Jesus has been crucified" Maybe thats taking it a bit too far but thats how it would seem now, in this city at least... (No offense to anyone, this is solely for the sake of humor)
  18. As much as the idea sounds enticing, and as much as I still repect Roger Clemens, would it be fair to say it would be overdoing it?? As it stands now, Curt Schilling will most probably start opening day in his second to last year on contract, dare I suggest is there enough space to fill the spotlight for two perspective aces on the team? just a thought in looking ahead, but if they can they pull it off I'm all for it. BoSox in 06'... this too is our year
  19. Truly a class act in every aspect, I met him out in chicago during the Cubs series, didn't hesistate for a second to sign an autograph either, Baseball could use more guys like John Olerud in their dugouts. Enjoy your retirement Johnny O, you've earned it.
  20. Straight up Manny for Zambrano. Saw this guy pitch against the sox in Chicago, definatly the unsung ace of their staff. Doubtful if Cubs would agree, unlikely to add anyone else though if they were to...
