  1. Baseball America rates him to top prospect in all of baseball too. What a stupid move.

    Draft

I agree. My post was more of what I'd like to see them do. I like Williams alot. However, I don't think you can be surprised no matter what position they take. Last year they took a guard in the first round, and they've taken two tight ends. I don't think its because they valued these positions, i just think they felt they were the best players on the board. If Belicheck thinks a RB is the best player on the board I'm sure he'll take him.

    Draft

Predicting who the Pats are going to take is pretty useless. Might as well throw a dart at a dart board. I like Chad Jackson and Deangelo Williams. We'd have to trade up to draft Jackson, unless Denver does something odd at 15. I don't expect the Pats to draft Williams, but I like him. Its pretty much who falls too. No one thought the Celtics were going to draft Gerald Green becuase no one thought he'd be on the board. I've seen drafts that have Wimberly ranked well above the Pats, and I've seen drafts where he falls. I think Kiper had Kiwanuka available at the Pats 2nd round pick.
  4. The 10 day waiting period started 8 days ago I believe. They're waiting the 10 days to let swelling go down so they know just how serious it is. If it healed well in the 10 days, he could be back as soon as the 15 days expires for the DL. If it looks bad it would be 6 more weeks. The important thing I'm pointing out, we should know a lot more in 2 days.
  5. Did you just say that we can't beat tampa with Kazmir on the mound?
  6. He tried to bully his way to not making the first rehab start, and it didn't work. I think they've had enough of his opinion and will rely on medical reports and the doctors opinion more.
  7. I know you didn't say it. I never implied you did. I said it, sarcastically, cuz it seems like they get more breaks then anybody, and I don't feel bad when a bad one goes against them.
  8. Yeah, cuz the yankees never get any breaks on close calls.
  9. So if Wells goes on the DL, and Dinardo gets the start, who gets brought up to replace Dinardo in the bullpen. The three most obvious choices are Delcarmen, or Van Buren. Both have pitched well in AAA. Meredith has had a good year so far too but its early, and last time they brought him up it didn't turn out so good. I don't think they want to bring Hansen up yet. I think its Delcarmen but wouldn't be surprised to see Van Buren.
  10. I agree, Even on TV you could tell he had nothing. I made too many excuses for Wells in my first post. It wasn't the team he was facing. The Royals probably would've pounded those pitches. He had no life on his fastball. I thought the curve actually looked decent, but you can't survive on a curveball alone. I still hold out hope that his stuff can improve as he stretches out and throws more pitches. It did happen last year after he sucked early on. Down the stretch he was very consistent.
  11. You need to give Wells at least 5 starts. Theres way too much to gain to not give him a shot. Besides, everyone on the Blue Jays had great career numbers against him. It seemed like very new guy to come to the plate NESN would show a statistic saying they were lifetime .412 with multiple HR's off him. If he shows he can't come back, my nomination to take his place is Dinardo. He looked good coming in for him the last game, and had good numbers both in AAA and the majors last year.
  12. The old foulkes K/9 rates are actually pretty good. Not having a great fastball doesn't eliminate the possibility of being a strikeout guy. Now if you were comparing him to Foulke of last year you're right, but I'm not sure why we'd ever compare prospects to terrible pitchers.
  13. 3 at bats!!! and he has a double in one of them, and hes 24. You can be as irrational as you want, but Wily Mo has a chance to become a great player. Right now hes just pretty good. Arroyo's numbers regressed last year and hes not getting any younger, and he wasn't going to start.
  14. Looks like the 2004 Schilling to me.
  15. When did tejada stop swinging at everything. Schilling has just missed a number of times this game against him and hes laid off.
  16. And Curt finally gets a K to end the 5th. 69 pitches through 5 scoreless is definately a good sign though.
  17. He has looked very good in limited experience. He could go into the hall of fame and it won't bother me at all that we traded him. Any other deal I'd be pissed. If we lose game 4...5,6, or 7 then this trade would look terrible. How miserable do you have to be to complain about a trade that marked a turning point in a season that caused your favorite team to go on and win their first world championship in 86 years? I agree with Rick Pitino sometimes. "The negativity in this town sucks!"
  18. I know this is an old quote but nobody has responded to it with a real answer. It doesn't matter what Roger wants to go in the hall as. The hall of fame changed it so that the player no longer choses. One of the reasons people think this happend was of a rumor George put in Clemens' contract saying he would go into the hall as a yankee. As far as him coming back to baseball, I think it happens, assuming he feels he can still compete. I think the shortened season will help him because he seemed to ware down at the end of last year. I also think it will be either for the Yankees or Red Sox. Texas and Houston will not be in contention this year. Why would he come back to pitch for a loser, and why would a loser pay such a price for one year of a pitcher when they aren't going to make the playoffs?
  19. That lineup will absolutely kill lefties. Look at Lowells numbers against lefties last year. He may have had an off year, but his numbers against lefties were still good. The year before when he was playing at an all star level his production against lefties was at an MVP type level. One note, Even without stern both Dinardo and Harris don't fit on the roster. You add dinardo to replace wells, then you say harris can come in when stern gets sent down, but someone else has to go on the 12th when wells comes back.
  20. While there are definately people who know more than him, he simply is the best writer out there in my opinion. His stuff went downhill a little while he was writing for Kimmel. Its been better since he left the show.
  21. Any of those you'd recommend? Its probably alot to go through to see whats good and whats not. And while Bill Simmons isn't a blog, but a columnist, every sports fan should read every word he writes.
  22. Millar sucked, horribly, for 2 years. He can be compared well to Jason Giambi before his resurgence last year, and the Yankees tried to void his contract. I don't know ANYBODY criticizing Bill Mueller. Just about every red sox fan would love to have had him back. The decision to let him leave was because he wanted a 3 year contract. For someone like him, that is a risk. Thats not blasting the guys, its a fact. People are saying Lowell could come here and put up good HR numbers becasue very recently he has, while playing in Florida. No one is saying this is a sure thing, far from it. He is definately our biggest question mark, but was the price of acquiring Josh Beckett. Derek Lowe, I will always appreciate how well he pitched in the post season. When starters go on 3 days rest in the playoffs the station covering the game generally runs a stat about how past pitchers have struggled in this situation. Lowe beat the yankees in game 7 on 2!!! days rest. He was just terribly inconsistent and got a ton of money. Again, not blasting the guy, its just a fact hes not worth that contract. Pedro. If you want to see what Red Sox fans think of him then watch the game if he pitches against us for the Mets this year. I think he deserves a standing ovation longer than Ripken got when he broke the consecutive games played record. He has lost 8 mph on his fastball and his HR numbers have gone up. He has gone from the best pitcher in the history of the game to above average, and there is good reason to believe he will continue to get worse with his shoulder. Thats an honest opinion. Giving him a big 4 year contract would've been risky. I would've supported it and hoped everything turned out well if the Red Sox gave it to him, but it would've made me nervous. Your opinion is mainly responding to what the press has said. The Boston Media sucks and does not speak for the general fan base. ESPECIALLY not Shaughnessy.
  23. The team should win half the starts, you know what i meant.
  24. Your twisting stats and ignoring any inteligent posts. His ERA+ was under 100. 100 is league average. That means he was below average. An average pitcher will win half of their starts. The fact we won more than half of Arroyos starts is because we have a good offense. An average offense will not win 20 games with Arroyo's output last year.
  25. He had an ERA+ under 100 last year and his K rate/9 innings went way down. He can't get lefties out, and after April he just didn't pitch well last year. He wasn't going to start this year, or any year in the near future. For him we got a 24 year old slugger who kills left handed pitching. The teams biggest need was someone to platoon with Trot Nixon against lefties. What exactly is not to like here?
