  1. I think its funnier when Yankee fans get on AROD and think he'll never be good again. At least us Red Sox fans can give the excuse that its wishful thinking, and getting on a player you don't want to do well. What excuse do yankee fans have?
  2. To be fair, hes more of a witness than a suspect.
  3. fair enough, but he is one guy that writes about this stuff that agrees with me. I still don't see either one getting significantly more minutes than the other and I think it'll be evident by mid-season which one is better, or if there isn't much seperation between the two.
  4. Scaff, You really like Ryan Phillips better than Kris Johnson?
  5. Whoever plays more is probably only going to play 5 more minutes so I don't see it as something worth debating anyway. As the season goes on it should become obvious who is better but Rondo definately gives you some things Telfair doesn't. Telfair is the better scorer right now though.
  6. Rondo has 30 assits to just 5 turnovers in the pre-season. I'd start him. If he slows down in the regular season it'll be an easy switch to Telfair. They both get the nod over West because they are pure point guards who are better at getting their teamates involved. West will play the 2 if hes healthy when both wally and pierce sit, that should be good for 20 minutes, maybe with 8 minutes of both telfair and rondo together. Jefferson looks mediocore still. He shoots at a high % but mainly when his teamates get him easy shots. Alot of the time they go into him when hes calling for the ball he tries some low post moves that don't work, he kicks it out, gets it back in bad position again, does nothing, passes to a teamate at the end of the shot clock, and the teamate has to take a tough shot cuz he can't get a good shot off. I see the 4 as this teams biggest weakness.
  7. To add to what Jsinger said, Jon Sickels along with some others actually had Lars Anderson rated higher than Laporta, and he cost much less to sign. Anderson has alot to prove but hes an exciting young player.
  8. Arroyo looked alot worse last year than the year before. He definately would not have won 15 games in the AL this year. Every Red Sox pitcher looked great against the national league teams. There were like 4 teams in the AL that lost 3 games or less in interleague play, the NL is awful. Arroyo may have taken Dinardo, Gabbard, and Johnson's starts, but Wily Mo's at bats would've gone to Willie Harris, Adam Stern, and Gabe Kapler. Wily Mo started in center when Coco got hurt and right when Nixon got hurt. He might have added 3 wins but losing Wily Mo would've cost wins too.
  9. Any award George King gets to vote for, which i think is all of them but I know includes the MVP, is tainted in my opinion.
  10. It all really depends with Belichick. He moved up to get Daniel Graham, and that same year made a bunch of trades moving up a few slots and down a few slots to get the guys they wanted. The next year they didn't move at all. Last year they moved up to get Jackson in the second like someone already said. Theres really no telling what the Pats will do in the draft. They also wanted to move up to get Vilma but couldn't.
  11. Charles Rogers has been cut. Hes not great and hes not a great character guy either, but I don't think we can be picky at this point. I think he'd be a big improvement over what we have if Branch doesn't report until week 10.
  12. While you are probably right, i think theres a chance he still develops. He does have 57 xbh in 126 games between AA and AAA this year.
  13. He's had some pretty sustained hot streaks. He also started off very cold this year and last. Some want to blame the cold weather in portland maine, which could be a factor. I got excited about him when he was on one of his hot streaks when he got called up to AAA but he has since cooled off. His overall numbers aren't great but hes still pretty young, as he turns 25 in October. He definately hasn't proven he can be a regular at the major league level but he hasn't proven he can't either.
  14. They're 3-12 in their last 15 games, but hang in there.
  15. Even if he doesn't retire he wasn't coming back to boston. He asked to be traded at the beggining of the season.
  16. We're so far out of it that trading young players for short term solutions would've only made us miss the playoffs by less.
  17. Seriously? You don't know why a team that has no chance to make the playoffs just traded a solid starting pitcher who is going to retire at the end of the year and not contribute anything to the club in the future for one of the top 5 rated catching prospects in all of baseball when we don't have any legit catching prospects in AA or AAA???
  18. When this game ends the red sox will be 3-12 in their last 15 games and 6-17 in their last 23. Edit: 8-19 since the Jason Varitek injury.
  19. Jim Callis from BA reporting on SOSH Lars Anderson has agreed to sign pending a physical. Very good news. Now just get Bard signed and this will be a very good draft.
  20. I'm in, this looks cool.
  21. You're ignoring the fact that hes sucked over his last 8-10 starts, i don't have time to look up the exact numbers now but hes doing significantly worse lately. He did worse in the AL as teams saw him more and that trend seems to be continuing. I'd be surprised if his ERA is under 4 next year in the NL, and it will probably be closer to 4.5. Edit: ERA in July: 5.45 ERA in Aug: 4.91 over a stretch of 8 starts total.
  22. But he can't possibly be worse than Monty Beisel, who might be hurt. Bruschi is also hurting. It is a move out of desperation if it becomes official, but its necessary. The real failure was not bringing someone else in during the offseason, but at this point he can't possibly hurt. If hes that bad they won't play him, unless they really don't have another choice. Not every move is going to be bringing in a star player, or even an average player for that matter. That doesn't mean its not needed.
  23. Not missing passed out on a beach anymore, but you have no right to make fun of el guapo for being fat because the yankees have had fat players too.
  24. How is this a bad thing? Our middle linebackers suck big time, and when we run the 3-4 we need two of them.
