I think you need to take the blinders off...people don't care about the Red Sox and Yankees. Why are you telling me about road attendance, you sound like a Cubs fan - here's your Attendance Award. You people think that if it wasn't for Red Sox-Yankees, there would be no baseball. Absolutely ridiculous, that series is a long bore...it was good maybe in 2003, but the media over-hyped it throughout 2004, and by the time the ALCS came around I didn't even want to watch the playoffs anymore. For the first time in a long time, I didn't watch the playoffs (after the strike). The media ruined that rivalry and it's forever tarnished, now it just sucks. One team blows out the other, the other comes back and blows them out. Same thing every series, yet it's the best thing baseball has ever seen? Excuse me while I puke.
-
Everyone in baseball bet on games back then, the 1919 White Sox just happened to get caught. I can't seriously believe that some of you think that they're cheating. Unbelievable.
-
Yeah, they both sucked really bad and they're showing everyone why we got rid of them. Both of them made SO MANY mistakes for us, it's kind of weird, but what do you mean by that? Like they're paying off these guys? I hope not...
-
That's the funniest thing I've ever heard...I hope it was a joke. Instead of looking at the positives of this game, i.e. Buehrle pitched awesome and AJ made a great heads up play, they ignore that and feel sorry for the Angels. How could you ever say that; the media hates the White Sox, always have, always will. Don't know why, don't think I ever will...this is utter ******** if some of you think the White Sox are paying people off. Whatever.
-
There is no universal hand signal. Every umpire has their own way...I don't understand how you've never noticed this. They said that the verbal calls are what you listen for...AJ did not hear one, and Josh Paul even said he did not hear one...Umpires don't have the luxury of looking at 5 million replays as the play is happening, you have to remember that this all happened in the matter of about 15 seconds. It happened fast and no one can say that they could do a better job. I'm not saying the call has NOTHING to do with the outcome of the game, but what I am saying is the media should stop griping over this when the Angels had two shots to get the out. Once on the steal, where Josh Paul makes yet another mistake, and then Escobar leaves a meatball on an 0-2 count, that Crede crushed. And also...the game was not over if they called that an out, no one knows what happens in the 10th inning. The Angels could go 1-2-3 and the Sox score in the bottom of the inning anyway. Of course the Angels could have scored runs, but the game did not solely rest on this play. That's what I'm saying...the Angels had TWO more chances to get that final out and we have no idea what would have happened in the 10th.
-
I disagree, outside of Boston and New York, no one cares about that series. It is WAY over-hyped and it got real old, real fast. I think a change of scenary will be good. No one wants to see the same teams over and over again. Everyone begins to hate them, see the Super Bowl. Everyone is behind the Cowboys...they have a dynasty and everyone hates them. Same thing with the Patriots...people like change.
-
No...the umpire did that for all strikes, there were no contact. He held out a stiff arm signaling no contact, and pumped the fist for the STRIKE...not the out. If you're listening to what Harold Reynolds said...he said that universally people think the fist pump is an out, but the umpire was doing that all game on first and second strikes. The Angels thought the fist pump was an out, but that was not the HP umpire's mechanic for an out.
-
You know for a fact that this doesn't happen? These kind of things go unnoticed, and it would have if Escobar could have gotten the last out. If he gets the last out, the innings over and we head to extra innings...that play has nothing to do with the outcome of the game. But Escobar didn't get the last out, and just happens to give up the winning HIT after a STEAL. So then it becomes a big deal, because it's the ALCS and Escobar couldn't overcome the play. Do I think they should have won? Probably not, they sucked...terribly. But the Angels sucked just as much. The White Sox did NOT "steal" this game. The game was TIED...if AJ is called out it goes to extra innings...the game is not over. We did not win the game because that happened. You guys say, if you were in Angels' fans shoes, you would be pissed. Well yeah I would, but if YOU were in MY shoes...you would be ecstatic. That's baseball...there are no replays, things like this are going to happen. I know it's hard to get over, but you have to and I guarantee the media/fans are the ONLY one's still griping about it. The players have to move on, otherwise if they dwell on it, they're going to lose even more.
-
You're right, I would be crying if the call was the other way...but it wasn't. And let me remind you, and ESPN, and FOX, that this did not tie/win the game. Pablo Ozuna stole second AFTER THE PLAY, and Joe Crede hit a rocket off the wall, AFTER THE PLAY. The umpire doesn't have a view from the front of homeplate like we do at home...it isn't obvious that a ball did not hit a ground from behind the catcher, in a split second. How many of you could have even told me that the ball did not hit the ground after the play happened, without any replays. You're full of it if you say you did...you can't even tell, unless it's zoomed in and you're forced to watch 100 times. I have a feeling if this did happen the other way around, we'd be hearing what a great job it was by whoever did AJ's job. AJ didn't hear, you're out...so he ran to first, it was a damn good heads-up play and he gets no credit whatsoever. Josh Paul is a moron for not paying attention to what was going on...and he shouldn't even have been in the game.

October 5th @ Chicago: ALDS Game 2
thee sox replied to yankeessuck013's topic in Mike Grace Memorial Game Thread Forum
How am I talking s***? Someone was talking s*** about Sox fans...I just pointed out that you feel that way anywhere. I'm not trying to pick fights, nor will I ever. The series isn't even over yet and even if it was I wouldn't be talking s***. If you thought the "suck it up" thing was talking s*** all I was saying is everyone I've ever known from Boston doesn't seem to complain...they just suck it up and say that's life. If anything, I thought it was a compliment...I never meant for anyone to be offended...sorry if you took it the wrong way. -

I've felt that way in Boston...you're going to feel that way when your in an opposing team's territory. You're going to criticize everything you see because you think what you've got is so much better. Opposing fans are drunks, idiots, and *******s...that's the way it is. But ask your opponent's fans about your fans and your going to get the same response. You're from Boston, suck it up... -
That game doesn't mean a thing anymore...14-2 ends with the same result as 3-2. They're going to come out fighting again today, there's no reason you should not. You can't dwell on these losses or you will end up home within a few days. As a Yankee fan, I'm surprised you're even saying that.
-
Homeboy? And you started out the season 11-19 with a 200 million dollar payroll. So it's okay to have a tough start and then get hot, but it's not okay to have a tough end to the season? 30-28 >>>>>>> 11-19.
-
Second Half Records: Red Sox: 46-29 (.613) White Sox: 42-34 (.552) These are only marginal differences and I guess I could say that the Red Sox had some nice cup cakes in the second half. BTW...Rockies: 36-39 (.480) I'm not quite sure which team your talking about, but no last place team had a better second half record than the White Sox.
-
I guess over on the east coast everyone believes you have to be an offensive powerhouse to be a "good team". We'll see, we play baseball the right way. BTW, if you didn't notice, they were 8-2 in their final 10 games and totally blew those 2 losses, including a 5 game winning streak. I would hardly say they aren't going into the playoffs hot.
-
No I'm not here to gloat...I was making a point after someone else decided to bring the, "When was the last time you won a playoff series?" routine. I'm only saying, how can you say that we blew a 15 game lead when you didn't even have a 15 game lead to blow.
-
And we won the division when it mattered...can you even say that you had a 15 game lead, or the best record in baseball for 2/3 of the season, or the best record in the AL since day one? We won the division by 6 games, it doesn't matter how big the lead was at one point or how small it was at another. All that matters is we won it, and by a pretty healthy margin at that. The Red Sox should have won the East, but instead their playoff hopes came down to the last day. I'm proud to say that didn't happen to the Sox.
-
Don't look at history...history has nothing to do with this series. We shall see who's the better team next week, don't get your hopes up. We were not BAD down the stretch...do you not realize how the Guardians were playing? How do you not say that the Red Sox played bad down the stretch? Any team with a 15 game lead would have lost it to the way the Guardians were playing, that's my point. I can't wait until we prove everyone wrong...we've been doubted since day one.
-
Almost blew a 15 game lead? Have you checked the standings...we won the division by 6 games. Lets talk about the Red Sox and how they should have taken advantage of a terrible Yankee first half. They almost didn't make the playoffs, how did they not "choke". The Cardinals finished 1 game ahead of the Sox, why didn't they almost "choke". The Sox did not blow anything, the Guardians were playing awesome baseball. I love how the media brainwashes you into thinking this BS...the Guardians played remarkable the last 2 months that is why our 15 game lead dropped down to 6.
-
Record-wise: White Sox > Yankees by 4 games Red Sox > Guardians by 2 games Twins > Blue Jays by 3 games Orioles > Tigers by 3 games D'rays > Royals by 11 games East overall record: 411-399 with 2 teams at 2nd best record in AL Central overall record: 402-408 with the best record in AL I'd hardly say that the East is a tougher division. I understand we have the Royals, but we're comparable divisions. With an average Royals team, we are a much better division. Not only that, but the Central has the top pitching in the AL. The AL Central is no longer a weak division, I wish people would stop saying that. How can you say they ONLY have the best record by 4 games. Four games is a lot, it's ridiculous to say otherwise. The AL division leaders have better records than in years past. It is a lot more of an equally matched league.
-
That's ridiculous, he never said the Sox were better than every other team...sounds like a bias against Hawk is what it is. Hawk is the White Sox commentator...he doesn't work for Fox or ESPN, he works for the White Sox. Why can't he be biased? He isn't meant to be a commentator that the other team enjoys. As a matter of fact, Hawk gets a lot of crap, but there are some REALLY bad one's out there. They all sound the same, they're all boring and hard to listen to. Hawk is at least unique and you can't take that away from him. Just for the record, the Yankees have one of the worst broadcast teams IMHO.
-
Why do people take what Hawk says so seriously? How do you make through life when Hawk pisses you off everyday? If you don't like him, don't listen to him...it's simple. He's one of the biggest fans of the White Sox, don't hate him because of that. He's actually a really nice guy if you ever met and talked to him. Not only that, but he tells some of the best baseball stories ever. You don't know Hawk, so don't hate him.
-
Cleveland played way over their heads the last two months and finally came back down to earth. It was bound to happen...they're good, but they're not as good as they were playing. Very streaky team...how come no one believes in the White Sox? We did put up the best record in the AL...
-
You didn't need it today...but who helped you so you only needed a win to get in today? Garland and Buehrle were both on slides when you faced us and Contreras is our ace to the day. Don't give me the, we own him crap, because he is a new man. He's having fun, his family is with him, and he's got all the confidence in the world. It should be a great series, I can't wait until Tuesday! Forgot about one thing...what about our rookie McCarthy?
-
Woah, I didn't know the White Sox could play against each other. BTW, no problem on helping you guys get in, we had to get rid of those fakes in Cleveland...but now we're just going to have to kick your ass.
