  1. I'm sure a ton of guys tested positive, I'm not exactly sure why this got out about Freddy, and why it is just coming out now...really makes no sense. There's no way he was the only one in the WBC that tested positive. There's one guy on the Red Sox that doesn't look very innocent; I'll give you a hint, he plays left field.
  2. And Ozzie is a better manager than they ever could be...what's the difference? Ozzie has always said s*** like this. Even if he didn't have a ring, he would say the same exact thing.
  3. He flipped out? I'd hardly say he flipped out, have you ever watched any of these interviews? Usually he's sitting in the dugout, and he just lets these things out like an everyday conversation. He doesn't raise his voice and get angry at the reporters, he just says it. You should meet him, he seriously is one of the funniest guys you'd ever meet, I swear. BTW, A-Rod is a jerk, so what's the difference?
  4. Awwwww...you New Yorkers are so sweet. I absolutely HATE anything and everything Cubs and I'm from Chicago. I was brought up to love everything White Sox and hate everything Cubs. Weird how those things work out...but it's probably due to their idiot fans.
  5. Any holes? Their rotation isn't exactly stellar and will keep them out of the playoffs yet again. They are really screwing their future right now...in a few years they're going to have aging stars with huge contracts and no younger guys to back them up. The Mets are turning into an even bigger mess than ever.
  6. Like someone said before, 34 AB's doesn't show much about ability. Those 2 homeruns were in the same game off the young stud Felix Hernandez. They also have Ryan Sweeney and Jerry Owens waiting in the wings. It's actually supposed to be either Owens or Anderson starting next year. No, they may not be what Young could be...but what Young could be is a bust. I'm not saying he is going to be a bust, but if your going to say we lost a guy that is going to be awesome, you can also say at the same time that he could be nothing at all.
  7. It's a chance you have to take sometimes. IF Thome is healthy, our offense is immensely improved over Everett. Thome-Konerko-Dye creates one of the best 3-4-5 in MLB. Not only that, but we added Mackowiak for literally nothing in Marte. He's a huge improvement over our old super utility guy in Blum. Their offense is improved from last year, the pitching is back...we'll be fine.
  8. Sort of like what you guys were excited about in Contreras? There is no doubt in my mind that Ozzie and Don Cooper cannot turn this guy around and put him back in the position he was in early in his career. We'll see, though.
  9. We won with pitching last year...and we have all six of our starters back for next year (pending El Duque who will probably be in the pen). And now our lineup is improved...Thome/Konerko/Dye is one of the best 3/4/5 in MLB. We're still looking for a #2 hitter to move Iguchi down in the order so he can produce more runs. We've got our pitching and a better lineup...we're good.
  10. Really? And what do you know about Aaron Rowand that I don't? That he had a hell of a series in New York this year and now the Yankees want him? He's a mediocre hitter with a "I will do anything" defense. We'll see how this works out, kind of like what everyone had to say about Lee for Podsednik last year. This is a GM that put together a World Series team in one offseason, I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing.
  11. Nice job comparing Rowand's 2004 numbers to Thome's 2005. You guys can say what you want, but this helps the Sox. Rowand had a real nice offensive season in 2004, but his numbers dropped way off this year. His defense is phenomenal, but we have Brian Anderson, who is major league ready who is going to be a better offensive CF and is already a great defensive CF. We may have Thome and Konerko, and quite possibly even Frank in our lineup next year. They're not giving up on Konerko, but they needed an insurance in case he doesn't re-sign. Thome will DH and give Konerko time off, if we don't re-sign Konerko...we have Thome to play first. Depth...it won this year.
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but his act is not illegal, the actual clubs are. So what's the big deal if A-Rod is there? Sounds like your everyday, lets start some gossip about nothing headline.
  13. There's nothing wrong with it IMO, any poker game you play at home is considered "illegal" in which you wager money. So A-Rod likes to play poker? Whoop-dee-doo...I like to play poker too, you don't see me on the front of the newspaper. Must have been a slow news day...
  14. The Guardians had a lot of career years last year and still didn't make the playoffs. I understand they're young and they had a tough start, but I would hardly call them #1. What happened to earning respect? What have they earned? The White Sox finished second behind the Twins three years in a row, with a sizable better skill-level, but they had to win a championship before they got anything. And also, why the hell do they even have power rankings yet? Who knows what happens in the offseason...for all we know the Brewers could be one of the top teams (maybe in a couple of years). Ridiculous and pointless... Well...this is also coming from a network that predicted the Cubs and Twins would be in the World Series with the Cubs winning a World Series. So I can see how dumb they are.
  15. Was it ever a "significant" player on a playoff team? I thought it was an outfielder from one of the AL Playoff teams. They never said that the player was on the playoff roster or played in the playoffs, just that he was a member of the team. I doubt there is anyone else.
  16. You can keep 'em. I certainly don't want them, they should just stay away from baseball in general.
  17. Heh, people seemed to care about the Red Sox last year. What did they win before that? See, thanks for the compliment. We're winning with guys that no one thought would ever be successful, while you won with a 110+ million dollar payroll. Sounds like bitterness to me. We have gotten NO respect all year, none, nada, zero, zilch. Yet your team gets another lovefest and finally people start talking about us and YOU get all pissed off? Oh come on dude, we've lived through this BS and the lovefest between the media and Red Sox for the past 5 years. We have four guys that have went out this postseason and dominated. Can the Astros say that? They've had not-so-good starts from both Clemens and Pettitte, with Oswalt being the only dominate man. I think they deserve more respect. And you talk as if the Red Sox are the most successful team ever...they won a World Series last year, good for them. But you don't have to act like you're the fking king after one World Series. Since when have the Red Sox been such a successful franchise, last time I checked they just won something last year. IMHO, I think people do care, not about the White Sox in general but this World Series. These first two games have been two of the most exciting World Series games in awhile. Maybe I'm biased, but this is coming from a baseball fan perspective. Two teams, neither with superstars, that just go out and work their asses off and do whatever possible to win ball games. These two games have been phenomenal, and I hope it continues.
  18. The ball hit the ground, explain how it defies gravity and moves upward? Is it a magical floating ball or what? Podsednik was picked off, but the umpire is in no position to make that call. If the tag came in higher, instead of behind Podsednik on his thigh, he would have been called out. No one can say they could make a better call in either opportunity. And neither of these calls affected the ending of the game until THE ANGELS SCREWED UP. If the tying and winning run came in on AJ's play, then I guess there could be controversy, but you have endure umpire's mistakes, they're going to happen. The Sox had their fair share all year, including this series. Rowand looked safe to me in Game 2...and if he's called safe at home, the game is over before the bottom of the ninth even comes around. Sounds like bitterness to me...
  19. It was the correct call. You probably think I'm biased, but I also thought the ball was caught at first. The more I watched the replay though, the more you could see that the ball changes directions. It comes in at the ground and moves UPWARDS into the mitt of Josh Paul. Besides, the umpire did check the ball after the play was over and apparantly there was no evidence to say otherwise (scuffs?). That ball hit the ground. If Escobar can cause his pitch to break up as well as down, he's the best pitcher I've ever seen.
  20. Discussion of the games stems mostly from ESPN because for some reason they think that's the only two teams that exist. There is definately an East Coast bias, it's ridiculous if you can't admit it.
  21. When I referred to "you", I was referring to the fanbases of both the Yankees and Red Sox; plus ESPN because it's their lovefest. I know I'm speaking for everyone I know, that people are sick of that series. It is just a long bore now...it used to be exciting, you never knew what was coming next. Now it's too repetitive and I guarantee the casual fan has grown bored of it. The casual fan wants to see excitement, but they don't want to see repitition and that is exactly what this series has become.
  22. You didn't read my post correctly. After the '03 ALCS, the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry was over-hyped throughout the '04 season. So by the time the '04 ALCS came around, it was a terrible thing to say. I'm not saying it wasn't great for the Red Sox to come back from 3-0, but by that point I didn't even care anymore because all I heard about all season was Red Sox - Yankees. The Red Sox winning the World Series also didn't help much...now what's the rivalry all about? It used to be about the Yankees beating the Red Sox and their drought continued, now they won...*yawn*. And what's with the hostility. You think that the Yankees and Red Sox are the best thing that ever happened to baseball, it's not. Not even close. Baseball does not revolve around these two teams. They go out and buy teams every year only to make it a battle of the two money-ball teams. Well the media seems to be trying to make the series more popular to the casual fan, because now apparantly, the White Sox are cursed. Thanks to that utter ******** that started from you guys and the Cubs. The "curse" is what made the series, now the "curse" is gone...the series is no longer a good series anymore.
  23. Exactly, Marriotti is a huge moron...terrible journalist, I don't even know why he has a job. Probably so Statboy can rip him a new one everyday on ATH. Marriotti only tries to pick fights, and he's going to eventually lose his job at the Sun Times and on ATH.
  24. This nation BS is used for anything. I've heard high school sports in which the team mascot has nation afterwards. Nation does not mean a nation of fans, but the fanbase.
  25. Well, I hate to be the one to break you the news, but he's the White Sox announcer. Not the road announcer...he can be biased, he's not a national commentator. You want to talk about biases? How about Chris Berman's bias toward the Red Sox in the ALDS? Now that's something to complain about, he's not supposed to do that, yet he was on your side since day one. And how about the ESPN bias? How about the bias we have to put up with in the local and national media? We put up with your biases in the NATIONAL media, I think you can put up with Hawk for 2 and a half hours.
