  1. Of course that's a given, as I mentioend in my other post this rotation has great potential. However, I do expect good seasons from beckett, DMat, and Paps somewhat. Schilling should give us a chance to win every time out, same goes with the underrated Wakey.
  2. I agree with schillgouthekdwlf, unelss we get the rocket ASAP, 5 very good starting pitchers and an empty closer's role with plenty of applicants is fine by me. Don't get sucked in with what ESPN and others are saying, the closer's role is very much hype and there are plenty who can hold it down decently that just haven't been tried out yet (Gagne, Rivera). Granted, I'd feel more comfortable with a solid closer in the back of the pen, but worst comes to worst we trade for soemone mid-season (and with this rotation's potential, a closer might not be that important).
  3. Yeah, that comparison really pisses me off
  4. well we're obviously pinning all our hopes on MDC and Hansen to step up for the future but for now I geuss we're going with a very make-shift pen with (at least I feel) a good blend of vet's n young guns. I think your somewhat underrating Donnelly and Timlin or at leats overrating their decline.
  5. Garunteed 4 mill is a bit high, but considering what he COULD be, it might end up being a bargain.
  6. Wild Card Week NFL Football - NFL Playoff Game Dates 1/6 - 1/7, 2007 Date & Time Favorite ............. Spread ................ 7. Who are going to put in the 5 hole until Clemens is ready?
  8. The Yanks must be pretty sure they're landing Clemens if they make this deal, and that's what worries me. However, they could be leaning too much on Pavano and one of their prospects to perform well this season. So from our standpoint it's 50/50 this is good for us.
  9. Well, a better shot to do what? If it's to win their respective divisions it might be close, but that doesn't eman the Cubs are better than the Yanks.
  10. Jesus, what a game, go Broncos. I mean I don't know whre to begin, it was just kind of a bang-bang type game. All in a matter of like 30 minutes.
  11. Yeah, I'd feel that we'd have jump the gun on givin up Hansen, especially if it were for like a 30 year old, but I'll do it for Cordero.
  12. Well, he's better than Mark Loretta at 1st, but he eitehr hitsit a logn way or K's
  13. Anyone else see the Chokin' Broncos blow it? It was a sight to see.
  14. I think for now, Theo's just going to relax and if anything interesting drops on his door step, he'll look into it. However, as stated, we're basicaly holding open try-outs for the closer role and have some promising young arms in it. Hansen, MDC, Cox, and others should turn into solid arms at the least (maybe not even this season), with Devern, and Snyder as the outside the box options. My favorites right now (not because of probability, but more because Id liek to see it) are Cox or Hansen.
  15. I don't know, the entire situation looks bad with Zito out of the picture, and basically the FA market gone in terms of pitching. I mean yeah, prospects are nice, and yes Randy is old, but there isn't really a gaping hole anywhere on the Yankee roster, and you already have young pitching that should be ready by mid-season. So without freeing up money for Zito by getting rid of Johnson, tehre's really no need for a trade, unelss your looking at Linerbink. But even then, the rotation looks a lot betetr with RJ in it if you ask me.
  16. Agreed, and this fact alone worries me some. I mean I hope he'll give Pedroia a fair chance, because I'm expectign him to have an unneeded short leash on Pedroia and will yank him very soon if Pedroia doesn't do decently. I mean Francona played Cora too mcuh last year, and that's when we had the stable presence of Loretta at 2nd.
  17. I cringe thinking of the astronomical contract Carlos Zambrano will get next off-season.
  18. whatever, as long as it's not to the Yankees, I'm fine with it.
  19. Coles didn't help me none, but I ahd a decent season. Finished in 3rd for 2 leagues, and 2nd in one where the other guy got his friend to give him Stephen Jackson and Marvin Harrison, f***in' prick.
  20. The Danks point is irrelevant as you and I both know Danks has probably a tad more upside and promise. Just as Hernandez is a bit more promising than Abe. I agree, Pauley, Tavarez, and Lester are by far better options than him, but it doesn't hurt to have depth in the minors. Lets be clear and use elsrbueno's point that no one expects much of Hernandez, if anything he'll be a long reliever. However, if you had to choose between Hernandez and Abe to start a game for you, who would you choose (if you had to win).
  21. If the Yankees get any decent players back and still don't have to pay any of the 16 mill, this is anything but negative for teh Apple's finest. The Yanks, if you look at who they're dealing with, could end up with Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres, which IMO is better than anyone available on the market. Also if he fails you have the Cuban kid in the wings for next year, so you gain cash, a possible piece(s) of the future, and a late run at Zito.
