  1. RJ was just throwing meatballs. You could see it from the start.
  2. Damon is getting one hell of a work out.
  3. Nationals GM Jim Bowden was arrested on Sunday night in Miami Beach and charged with DUI. The joke possibilities are tremendous, but drinking and driving, if that's in fact what Bowden did, is hardly a laughing matter. The chances of him holding on to his job when new ownership takes over certainly diminish with the news. "I intend to plead not guilty at a future date in a Miami Dade court," Bowden said in a statement. "I deeply regret any embarrassment that my arrest may cause the Washington Nationals and Major League Baseball." Apr. 18 - 1:36 pm et http://rotoworld.com/
  4. Maybe I have a higher standards for players. I view great as legendary type players. Then there are the rest.
  5. Its possible, Mauer and Morneau IMO have much more potential then those 2 and they have shown improvment while Reed had a rough season at the plate last season and Lopez has never played more then 57 games so its his first season as the full time player.
  6. If that was in fact the case who cares if they had 2 "elite" hitters? It didnt help them score WAY more runs then the Twins. As I said before in a previous post its nice to have 2 great hitters but you wont score much if the other 7 stink. That was the case with the Mariners.
  7. Yeah because the Mariners scored 11 more runs then them that makes them superior. They might have stayed the same but there young players like Morneau and Mauer have gotten better. I think that balences out the effect of adding Johjima
  8. In between them he hit 29 and then after his last year with the Brewers he got injured and only hit 9.
  9. Its great to pick out one year but you cant tell me he repeats that. I tend to side on consistancy and Sexson because of injuries etc has not put up consistant numbers to warrent elite status. Thats what makes guys like A-Rod and Manny etc so great. You can pencil them in for there usual. BTW feel free to respond to my question about the Mariners at any time.
  10. It also doesnt change the fact that Beckett faced a lineup that had the 29th best OPS last season and scored the 22nd most runs in the league last season. Is Johjima going to make that big of a diffrence? At best they are a below avarage club and thats better then last year when IMO they were terrible. That said Beckett did face the Rangers and Blue Jays and beat them both so I'm not even discrediting his proformence. I'm just pointing out that Seattle is not a good offensive club. Which was 700's point that they are far superior to the Twins when in fact they are not.
  11. I viewed it as disrespectful esp when his original point was incorrect.
  12. I figured that one out awhile ago.
  13. and I admitted that so whats the point now? It doesnt change the fact that Sexson isnt an elite hitter. In fact maybe you can admit you were wrong and admit that the Mariners are a terrible offensive club.
  14. pretty much, the Yankees have to be happy with what they saw yesterday.
  15. In that post I talked about Sexson not being an elite player. As usual you pick out one thing that fits your arguement and you harp on it. Just so you know I didnt set the tone, he decided to say that he "owned" me to which I continued on with that tone. Atleast know what your talking about please.
  16. Not at all, I corrected myself. You just didnt read the post prior to the one you quoted. If you look back today I never said striking out didnt make Sexson an elite player.
  17. One more thing......if you have nothing important to say pertaining to the topic at hand please refrain from your specialty which is your pension for backhanded comments. Its really not becoming of you. In fact its disrespectful. Maybe this is a good way to nutralize your poor manors. Btw you clearly care because you wouldnt have taken time out to respond. EDIT: Before Professor ORS points this out I'd like to correct nutralize*** Its neutralize
  18. You must have missed my previous post, I said striking out is fine when you have OPS like Bonds and Manny etc. Look back for it. BTW support your orignal post....are the Mariners a good offensive ball club? Please anwser....
  19. One more thing......if you have nothing important to say pertaining to the topic at hand please refrain from your specialty which is your pension for back handed comments. Its really not becoming of you. In fact its disrespectful.
  20. Im not writing an english term paper. However if you like (since you care so much) you can read through my posts and make corrections. BTW You didnt provide a counter point for my post .
  21. I like how you only quoted part of my post. How could you own someone when your original point was wrong? Your point was Becketts proformence came against a ball club with 2 elite hitters. Big whoop, they finished 29th in OPS last year, what a great offensive club huh? Besides, others in this thread have also said Sexson isnt elite, your only embarrassing yourself. I'll stop posting when you prove to me that Becketts proformence came against an avarage ball club. Not even good try avarage first.
  22. Just by calling him an elite player you automatically compare him to the other elite offensive players in the league. Btw who says owned besides 14 year old pimpled face mall rats? Your orginal points was also wrong anyway. The Mariners were 22nd in runs scored last year and they had those 2 hitters. They are a below avarage offensive ball club. IDK, You tell me I didnt say "dumiest". Get the quote right if your going to mock me.
  23. Talk about patting yourself on the back. Not at all, I just know you think your the baseball god among us so you have to be involved. There cant be a baseball arguement (esp with Yankee fans) with you not involved. I however relize that when you post I'm just reading what I can read at baseball prospectus. Regurgitating information doesnt win you any browney points with me . I will leave that at that. Beckett's proformence was fine however just because a lineup has 2 good hitters in it, it doesnt mean the other 7 must be good. In the Mariners case they have a solid line up with there best hitter Ichiro struggling.
  24. When I saw that you were in this thread I only knew it was a matter of time. Its ok to strike out is you have the OPS that those guys have but a career 881 OPS(which is good but not on any of those guys level) combined with striking out 150+ per year does not make you in elite player. Since you chimed in do you believe Sexson is an elite player?
  25. Yeah really, I know sox fans hate A-Rod but to compare A-Rod to Richie Sexson is utterly stupid.
