    montreal fan's are idiots , a riot after a 1st round victory ? MONTREAL–Imagine what would have happened if the Canadiens had lost. After Montreal's 5-0 dismantling of the Boston Bruins, vandals set fire to five police cars – although some witnesses said as many as 10 were burned – on Montreal's busy Ste. Catherine St. strip late last night and smashed windows in several stores. The smell of tear gas hung over a crowd of several hundred people who had gathered to celebrate the victory. Many revellers took cell-phone videos of the flames and shouted insults at police. It was not immediately clear whether any arrests were made. Emotions flared when fans from a nearby rap concert joined in the mini-riot, which paled in comparison to the violence that followed the 1993 Stanley Cup victory. "We need more police. I'm afraid of what will happen if we actually keep winning," said Dean Kalaidjian, a flag-waving fan.
