    It was just a matter of time before some of those long term contracts came back to slowly kill the Yankees team as we have known it over the years. It will interesting to see how/if the Yankees can pay their way out of this team they have. Past years when they started slowly they still had their core group of stars in their prime to fall back on, and they only needed to add a few pieces. The problem for New York now is that the star "core" group is definitely past it's prime and there is nothing to fall back on.

    It happens, the problem with Clay is that it has been happening most games... One bad inning . Okay his second bad inning is mounting. I still think Buchholz stamina is off... He doesn't seem to be able to finish off any of his outtings with any momentum.

    Man, people give up so freaking quickly on this forum... New Plan, Sign Oswalt, put Bard in Pen, hope Buchholz figures it out. If that plan works, the Red Sox could win a championship this season (if Ells and Crawford comeback healthy.)

    Celts are playing so awful in this game, but only down 4... Unless they can channel some energy they are going to loose tonight.

    Clay needs to go to AAA, loose the cutter and regain his confidence... He is a good pitcher, see 2010 and 2011 when he was healthy. Also in 2009, he was the only reason the sox staff kept it together and made the playoffs.

    Lester of 2008-2010 would pound righties on the outside corner, Lester of 2011-2012 cuts and sinks fastballs right in the middle of the plate, while having absolutely no FB command on the outside corner.

Now it seems to be happening to Clay. The problem for Clay is that he is simply not as good at throwing the cutter as Beckett and Lester are.

    Derek Lowe since he left the Red Sox: 100-88, 1425.2 Innings, 631 runs, ERA= 3.98 Average 203 innings per season. I would have loved to have in in the rotation for the last 8 years.
