  1. It wasn't really theo's signing. Tek is a duqette guy who theo re-signed. Theo doesn't really get the credit there.
  2. I dont think the money is the matter, to me the matter is the years. hes asking for 5 plus and thats not doable at all.
  3. Is there any truth to theo taking time off from baseball?
  4. I agree, forming chemistry is important, but many people can do that, theo was good at it no doubt but thats not a talent that only theo has, others can do it too. Theo was a monster, and im gonna say he'll be sorely missed, but we'll be ok. Depodesta probably isn't a good fit here though. I like towers, and who is the guy who was with Tampa? He did a better job then most people realise, i'd like to see him get a shot, with any payroll at all he might be able to do some things.
  5. Towers isn't bad, my friend was talking about that today. Depodesta isn't bad either but hes a risk taker, he is a guy who will take a lot of risks and he will trade prospects and do things unconventionally. No thank you, not now.
  6. my concern isn't getting a new one in good time, we will get a new GM and in good time too, im sure of it. My issue is that the new GM will trade away our prospects and won't draft like Theo. I love our farm system right now, and I love the prospects we have, i see trading one or two more touchable guys, but the untouchables better remain untouched.
  7. toby hall isnt good though, its not like hes a pudge or anything. i think that they'd take a shoppach.
  8. I dont thikn we're screwed but i certainly think that theo is the reason for our good farm system and we sure as hell better continue building it.
  9. To the dude who said Heilman would be a starter ( im to lazy for the quote button, yeah thats right) Anyways, goofiness aside, Heilman would be a better option out of the bullpen for us then he would in the rotation since we already have 3 young guys waiting in the wings. Lester, Sanchez, Dinardo. Heilman would be something nice to get to add some much needed stability to our bullpen next year. CL - Ryan? Foulke? Hansen? SU - Delcarmen, Timlin, Hansen? Foulke? MRP - Heilman, Dinardo LRP - Dinardo Specialist - Myers, Bradford im probably leaving people out but i dont much care since im also writing an essay for college and my thoughts are alittle jumbled. So theres my beautiful 06 bullpen hogwash.
  10. the sox would probably have to send the D-rays a shoppach or something, but that seems reasonable. I like it.
  11. Heilman Milledge and Huff is enough for me. Then im a happy boy. Either that or keep manny, that makes me happy too.
  12. but if your philly why would you ever give howard away? If your philly and your trade howard (very unlikely but what if...) they would need in return an ace of tim hudson/chris carpenter quality no older then 30 years old, two serious serious prospects like a Lester or a Hanley or a Brandon Wood or a Lastings Milledge, and a high end utility player. You don't give howard away for anything less then that. Hes 25, swings a great stick and is going to be very good for years to come, probably a franchise guy. If the phillies wanted to do sanchez shoppach and arroyo for him I would do it in a second, i'd give them lucchinos wife if they wanted her too.
  13. actually, there aren't really anymore GM's at all.
  14. If you were the oakland A's, why on earth would you ever want to do that trade? I could see a Wells, Shoppach, and Arroyo deal, maybe. I doubt they would give up Calero in that deal though. And how is miller trade bait, typically an injured guy who was limited to 16 starts with an ERA above 5 isn't very enticing trade bait. Turn the difficulty level past rookie and turn fair trades back on in MVP, man. Its getting to you.
  15. Probably steve finley, makes sense, a guy who sucked all season long decided to juice it to try and have a good post season.
  16. I love delcarmen, a friend of mine faced him in high school and went 1 for 4 off of him, I remember when he talked about it then and he doesnt shut up about it now.
  17. Yeah there is no reason for the sox to chase wagner. and Guardado has excellent stuff, he just doesn't throw gas. I think that hansen will most likely start in the majors next season, the thing that everyone forgets is that he was coming off a dead arm period and hadn't been throwing. Before that, he was over worked. He had flat stuff when he came up to the bigs. All he had was his straight four seamer, and even that was down from his typical 98 mph. Peter Gammons said on the radio on EEI when Hansen was first signed, that he watched Hansen pitch and said that Brad Lidge has the best slider in the Majors, but Craig Hansen would certainly challenge him for those bragging rights should he get called up. He does have awesome stuff, gammons said at that same time that he thinks that Hansens sinking fastball is great too and will make him an excellent two inning closer in the future. Hes got stuff, I think they will give him setup dutys in the begining and if foulke decides to s*** the bed, it might be Hansens job to get saves.
  18. Foulke is done, I really think that he just doesn't have it in him to be a dependable pitcher anymore, and Timlin as a closer? Thats your emergency option, not your first choice, I'd like Guardado, Eyre or Ryan to get signed to do those duties for a year, either that or use them as setup, these are bullpen pitchers, you don't HAVE to have them close if you sign them, they could get signed and be used as setup and have Hansen close if hes up to it. We need bullpen and the sox probably arent going to be too picky choosy about who they get and what their job is, they need guys who can stay healthy and get outs no matter what their role is. Also, what would you get for a crappy and expensive keith foulke on the trade market? You can't just trade away guys you don't want and get things in return, I think that if foulke sucks this year, he'll get the big DFA.
  19. Guardado is pretty interesting, i could see the sox looking to sign him, and i could see the sox scooping up eyre.
  20. Chad Tracey especially, why give up "untouchables" like anibal sanchez and hanley ramierez for him? especially sanchez since young pitching is so hard to come by
  21. but is it realistic, I don't really think so
  22. Yeah carter what is with you and wanthing to trade for everybody and change everything?
  23. Chad Tracey? ... you're kidding. Why trade a guy who could be a franchise player for a guy who is... well, chad tracey. (Rent said he'd move to 2nd if hanley came up, so rents job isnt in trouble hes a good player hes not as bad as his last year was)
  24. Ramblin man is by the allman brothers
