  1. What the heck is that supposed to mean? Also, Clemens looked unreal in that game against Mexico, thats the best movement i've ever seen on his fastball and his velocity was vastly improved over his last start. I really hope he pitches somewhere. I really want to see another season of Clemens. I just realized watching that start how absolutely spoiled we are as baseball fans. We have Pedro, Maddux, Johnson and Clemens all at once. That is unreal. Clemens really made me happy despite the loss. His stuff was so great.
  2. Yeah, wow guys, one medicore spring and its "lets give up on a 23 year old flame thrower with the best curve in our system" What about him dont you like other than he hasn't made any top 100 lists? Delcarmen is a great prospect to have in your system and hes got a ton of upside.
  3. Hansen has a high cieling and people like to think he doesn't have enough pitches because of what they saw last year when he was coming off a dead arm period. I think Hansen could be a major contributor if given the shot, but I don't think he has to be. Having Hansen in AAA is a luxury. Having Lester in AAA is a luxury. They both have to learn. A good farm system has a lot of really good players, like Anaheim or Tampa, a great farm system has a lot of good players who play the game exceptionally well because they learn the game. Talent is only half of the equation. If you can keep guys in the lower levels with the training wheels on for a little while it really helps the development along. Hansen will be a machine, so will Lester, but if he were to start the season he might not be a machine right away. Lester took a number 2 on his start today against Tampa and thats what young pitchers do. They learn from it though, Lester has bad velocity out of the stretch, but hes getting there. He will get better. Hansen gets flustered when he doesn't dominate out of the gate. He will get better. I think Hansen is a god. I worship the guy. When we signed him last year I was so happy because everyone talked about how this guy was too good a prospect for the Sox to net and that he would go back into the draft the next year etc. etc. and what happened? Yeah, Craig Hansen is a beast.
  4. Hey, if anyone is interested, I'm shopping A-Rod and I'll probably trade him before the season starts to the highest bidder.
  5. Typically people light candles and place them on a birthday cake. I've never seen anyone light a birthday cake on fire. Unless you overcooked it in which case I guess it could burst into flames, but isn't that a bad thing? Don't you want to eat your cake? You can't eat it if its on fire. The next thing you know you've got a soggy cake and a room full of crying kids with cones strapped to their heads. Why would you want that?
  6. Yeah I see the upside I guess. One time in one of my leagues someone traded Lebron and Jermaine Oneal for Theo Ratliff Raef LaFrentz and Speedy Claxton. No one voted against it but me. If I were commish and it came up, I would have put it down. My point is that we're counting on people to be very attentive and pay due dilligence with this thing which might not always be the case. Not a big deal probably.
  7. You are. The guy wasn't on roids. People do age and lose their swing naturally. This roid witch hunt is going a little far. Might his days be numbered? Yeah, but he wasnt on roids. I think he still has a good chance to get his swing back. Its only spring training.
  8. oh its league vote? Why? That seems like there is a lot of room for "i wanted to get that guy so im going to veto it blah blah" sort of stuff. And no i don't really want to trade right now, but i will at some point im sure we should have a place for this. Maybe a chain PM with all our AIM's or something. Mine is ksushi500
  9. OH! I just found the trade block feature, now that is something useful if people use it. Thats so awesome.
  10. Trade thread? Eh?
  11. retirement, he was topping out at 88 in the WBC. I think his best days are over.
  12. yeah, mine is to awesome to be posted, cowface. also, should we have a thread for trade talks or exchange AIM handles?
  13. no, you are legit the best yankee fan I hear from regularly. As a matter of fact, you one of like 5 posters who I actually read their entire post when I see it. Yeah, bad push on Damon. Thats exactly why in September I guess that he wouldn't be a Sox, that shoulder.
  14. I just want to keep telling you that I love everything you say. In other news, Damon's throwing shoulder - the same throwing shoulder that was holding him out of games and causing him to get cortizones last year - is holding him out of the WBC. This is actual news. Injuries are the only certainty in spring training.
  15. But how many times have you seen him? Never and always are big words
  16. Oh, lol, so much for paying attention to the thread. My bad.
  17. Well, it seems like people are interested...
  18. Can we change the draft day? April 1st Im going to be visiting a college, and who wants to sit around at 11:00 on a saturday doing an MLB draft anyway.
  19. Explain to me. I know this is trendy to say, but lets say Foulke can't get the job done, Jon Papelbon can and I think by May he will be closing games for us. With a rotation of Schilling Beckett Wakefield Clement and Arroyo or Wells, you've got quite the rotation and the bullpen is still potent with Timlin, Taveras, Riske, Seanez, and Papelbon. Not to mention youve got two relief prospects in Hansen and Delcarmen who could help out this year as well. Why is Foulke make or break? Granted if Foulke is healthy it will be one hell of a ride, but if he isn't that doesn't by any means ruin the Red Sox chances at having a great season.
  20. Foulke already threw a slider. Maybe he means hes going to rely on it more, but a new pitch isn't going to keep his ERA down if he can't get that separation from change up to fastball with that nasty pin point control.
  21. I'd rather have papelbon in the rotation than bronson.
  22. Clements contract is not bad at all... thats part of his value. He is decent pitching for not a lot of money compared to what he would have gotten on the market.
  23. agreed, a closer does not need an over powering FB, but a closer does have to have an aspect of his game that can dominate hitters. If you pitch for an inning, especially the ninth, you cannot nibble. Nibbling is something a starter will do, waste pitches, set guys up for their next AB etc. etc. its not a bad thing to do at all, but for a closer it is. A closer has to have a devastating pitch, be it a foolish change up at 79 mph, or a vicious Zito-like curve or a 97 mph cut fastball.
  24. He will one way or another be in the rotation. What are the wells options? I personally don't like wells, I think hes a distraction and a lard ass. Does anyone know how one would go about... say DFAing the fat man? Eh?
  25. sorry i made a mistake, ill be sure to punish myself accordingly. the point was, every indication is that papelbon will be in the rotation. I didn't mean to make a mistake, sir. Please find it in your heart of hearts to forgive this idiot.
