  1. It was a thread, just made a merge. But Pettitte has been in contact with Rocket and believes he will be back in Houston if he pitches at all. I'm starting to think that all he wanted was for the Astro's to make a competitive offer and he was going to sign back there. For awhile I was optimistic, not anymore. I think he is an astro.
  2. To everyone who was certain his career was over and he had lost his pop, he is now hitting .288. I love it.
  3. Not to mention Papelbon wasn't restricted to 90% secondary pitches like lester has been. He hasn't been pitching, he has been refining pitches. The up in his numbers shows he has made leaps in the development and control of those pitches. Lester is going to be good. He needs time. He might be a september call up, but god, you don't give up on a prospect after a bad month. He might be a september call up. I'd like that.
  4. Anyone wondering why schilling has been so flat once he gets around to the 5th inning lately? And it wasn't the 133 pitches that did it. It was starting before then. I don't get it, his ankle isn't an issue, he seems like he is just hitting way too much of the plate for some reason.
  5. working on it. He hasn't needed it, but it could help him in long inning situations.
  6. Pedro Roger Tiant Grove Eck
  7. He has the fastball the sinker the slider and is working a change. I believe that is four pitches. What does a starter need beyond that?
  8. Don Orsillo is my favorite member now.
  9. Manny and Ortiz aren't hitting at the rate that Puljols is. I am alittle suspicious of Puljols. First off, no way is this guy 26. Secondly, 19 HR? Jesus. I don't know. I think he's got some potent and hard to detect steroid. I hope I never have to find out about it though. I love Puljols.
  10. So, I'm waiting for Riverside to come in and talk about Beckett being a mediocre pitcher again after back to back good starts against decent offensive clubs, the Orioles so so, and the Yankees being pretty damn good. Wonder where he is.
  11. Bucholz is in low A ball too and I wouldn't say that 23 is over the hill. To be honest, I'd promote this guy to AA because I think if he is capable of hitting .300+ in AA or AAA, defense can be sacrficed at 2B. As long as he isn't Soriano bad
  12. Yeah, EEI sometimes is a joke too. There are some o.k. shows. Every now and then Ordway is half tolerable, but guys like Mike Adams and a few of the idiots they have on saturday mornings are total idiots. Mike Adams knows nothing about baseball. I hate Mike Adams.
  13. 23 year old second basemen currently playing DH for the Greenville Drive, a class A affiliate for the sox. A team captain in college he hit .470 at trinity university and is hitting .341 with some pop and only 14 k's right now. No idea why this guy isn't being talked about even though he is only in class A - but so is Bucholz and everyone raves about him. This guy is worth checking out, could be in for a call up sometime soon. Seems to be promising.
  14. Jack Johnson isn't so bad, but I'm not so big a fan anymore. I used to be. I saw him a couple of years ago and he was great. Harper is a beast. I would like to think hes a sox fan.
  15. Hey, man, you didn't catch me booing Damon and if Pedro went to the Yankees I would still love him for what he did here. I have a man crush on that wacko.
  16. Yeah, no booing pedro. Pedro is amazing. So he went to another team, thats the idea with free agency. It happens. I love Pedro. Didn't want him back for that money, but I love him.
  17. Jon Lester is a self proclaimed 'slow starter' so I'm not worried about his early output. He was on a strict pitch count, was working on mostly secondary pitches, and was making a jump from AA to AAA. I think his season stats aren't really an indicator of how good he actually is. Lester is a beast.
  18. Have you seen what Willis has done? He has sucked.
  19. I think A-rod is very very good and when all is said and done, he might shake out to be one of the top 10 hitters of all time. Right now though, we don't know. If things stay as they are now though, when they are both retired, I can say for sure that A-rod will sit in second place for this era to a guy named Albert.
  20. To me, the only scenario which I would leave papelbon in the bullpen, is if Hansen dominates as a starter the way he has as a closer. Its yet to be seen if he can. I mean we all look at Hansen starting as a for-the-time-being kind of thing right now. A learning experience. What if he dominates? It happened with Papelbon. I think though that Hansen will be a good starter, I don't know how good, so to me the jury is out. If I had to bet, I would bet that Lester and Papelbon will be in our rotation next season and that Hansen will be a closer.
  21. The guy who runs DirtDogs is among the most fickle of the fickle red sox fans. He jumps on everyones back after one bad game, and the next night will proclaim them the savior of the season even if they were to go 1 for 7 with 5 K but get one timely hit. I can't stand that site.
  22. Lets trade him.
  23. Yeah, I'm baffled as to why Francona sometimes gives the other teams free outs before the game even starts by putting guys like Harris in the lineup.
  24. He had a great start the other night, I was looking at it on the pawsox site. 5 IP 0 ER 4K or something like that. I'll find it when I get home. I
