  3. my bad, I thought it was Baldelli
  4. so maybe its just the DH spot in general thats cursed
  5. it was hard to be too upset about a 3-0 deficit with Willis on the mound
  6. just keep the bat on the shoulder, boys
  7. Don't pretend I'm that naive. I understand you have to give something to get something and that's where the advantage of having a deep farm system comes in. I find it hard to believe that considering the way things are aligning this year with the rotation, bullpen and lineup depth, that they would let a Nick Johnson-type acquisition keep them from having a legitimate shot at a title. Hell, I even think getting DeRosa would be a very solid move.
  8. well, thats what I mean. we could get Nick Johnson to bat 5th for example and our lineup would be fine. I'm just saying we need a guy with a good OBP who can hit 20+ HRs
  9. The Natinals have a Walter Johnson statue up: http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr144/filihok_2009/Baseball/Nats%20Statue%20Fail/WJ4.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/2009/images/06/04/walter-johnson.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr144/filihok_2009/Baseball/Nats%20Statue%20Fail/WJ5.jpg Add this to the list of misspelled jerseys, writing "thank you for your patients" on their scoreboard during a rain delay and firing pieces of sausage on their fans with a t-shirt gun
  10. Considering how strong the team is in literally every other aspect, you really think they allow the lack of a 3 hitter to keep them from winning a championship?
  11. The 22-year old Japanese import has been pitching very well in Portland all season long: 61.1 IP, 2.79 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 57 K/17 BB Could be in line for a promotion to Pawtucket at some point this year. Here's a fantastic Globe article on him: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/06/impressions_of.html
  12. I guess the whole "no discussion in the pick thread" has gone to s***
  13. game is at 1:05 today.... Pedroia - 2B Drew - DH Youkilis - 1B Bay - LF Lowell - 3B Baldelli - RF Ellsbury - CF Lugo - SS Kottaras - C
  14. the 2004 Sox sucked for two months
  15. if you're in this, and you know the draft is within 5 picks of your pick, the pick thread is the first place your ass should head to when you come here.
  16. Srsly, why would Jacko spend all this time updating the progress of "prospects" to the five Yankee fans who come here?
  17. Life isn't fair sometimes and I think we can all think of a few examples to reinforce that. All the best, man
  18. YOUR HEART DAMNIT. I WANT YOUR HEART
  19. Smoltz: "That's not how you treat people. He didn't have a chance to fail at that level, if that was the issue or concern. It's just not how you go about it. They're in control. They make those decisions. They've made a lot of them lately."
  20. I thought what we had was special...
  21. according to the Globe's Amalie Benjamin, Smoltz said the following about Glavine's release: "That's not how you treat people. ... That ain't right."
  22. what happened to Youk and/or Beckett?
  23. yea, he was activated and Bailey was sent to AAA I'm trying to find the logic in Beckett still being in the game...
  24. and the Sox lead by a touchdown and a field goal
