he was making 4.5 mil and was plagued by injuries and ineffectiveness. did I really have to point that out to you? you aren't gonna find what Tim Thomas has been the last two seasons in the bargain bin but most likely, you aren't gonna get what TT has given you the last two seasons for the next four years. Instead, you can get a very competent veteran to backup one of the top goaltending prospects in the game and some much-needed cap room to ensure that guys like Kessel dont skip town

Scott Clemmensen and Craig Anderson each signed for 2 years for around a million each per year I believe. There was plenty of competent goaltending out there for reasonable years and money.
