im judging him based on his history in Boston. he was getting run out of town along with Rudy Seanez when he was in the pen and at the end of last season and this season, he's been pretty much money in the rotation
EEI reported this afternoon that Curt Schilling is headed back to Boston to undergo what the team is calling a "precautionary" MRI on his right arm.
The news comes after Schilling was shelled in his last 2 outings after pitching a near no-hitter in Oakland. Schilling's velocity was noticeably lacking on Monday in Atlanta with his fastball topping out in the high 80s.
I don't know about putting Tavarez in the pen. He just isn't as effective there as he is as a starter. I realize he's still keeping the seat warm for Lester but I don't know what you do with Tavarez. Maybe make Snyder the middle reliever and keep Tavarez as the long relief guy/spot starter.
probably, but they've shown in the past that they'll hold auditions for that starting spot by bringing in the Kyle Snyders and Jason Johnsons of the world
baseball players have admitted they have a hard time with the scrutiny the media and fans place on the team in markets like Boston and New York which is why a lot of guys would rather play on the west coast or smaller markets where people aren't as pre-occupied with sports in general
it just comes down to the fact that some guys can play in Boston and some can't. I still don't think the FO fully respects that point. if they did, guys like O-Cab would still be here
it would never happen. as it is, Lester is still in Pawtucket, Gabbard is a very serviceable pitcher, Hansack could be a spot starter and there's other ways of getting a starting pitcher than converting your closer
