    Agreed. I do want to see Mankin, and a few others, and with Tivo you can replay to focus on what they did. I love this time of the year.

    With the Sox magic number currently at 45. Factor in their current schedule, opponents schedule, DL's coming back, and talent in minor leagues, we are going to win the Division. It's just a question of when. I'm taking a somewhat educated quess / stab at Sept. 17th.

    Anytime you see a collision like that and not have immediate pit in your stomach there's something wrong. This is especially true if you've played sports or engaged in any physical activity and been hurt. I know it always brings back memories for me. Aside from the physical damage, which in this case in considerable, there's the mental aspect. I hope he's able to bounce back, first as a human being, then as a ballplayer. I pray that he recovers without complications.

But that was then and this is now. Let's face it the Yanks are having a s*** year, and under the circumstances there is very little they can due about it this year. Bringing up th past does change anything now.

    There's alot of major adjustments to be made from college ball. Your point that college ballplayers are generally closer to being ready than high school draftees is correct. They have had several years to mature both physically and mentally. They also have had the benefit of playing against a higher level of competition and hopefully better coaching. However, the same is true in progressing to the majors. At each level of progression through the minor leagues a player faces increasing level of skill. Thus the shear physical ability does not guarentee success anymore. There is a mental aspect to be considered. What happens when he throws his best pitch say a 95 mph fastball, only to see it sail out of the park ( maybe it was thrown to a dead fastball hitter ) ? I won't even get into contracts, incentives, the media, etc. You don't want to rush a talent, this isn't the movies.

    Yea, He also nixed the trade to Tampa Bay.... the guys an ass wipe... I wouldn't want him on my team.
