  1. Like Konerko and Huff, Helton almost falls into same category as Thome, in my opinion.
  2. Riverside, I wish I could type faster !!
  3. This happens every year at this time. The waiver moves are usually kept a secret. they are made by almost all GM's in an attempt to make deals by August 31st. If the player clears, they can trade him. If another team or teams claim him ( the team with the worst record gets him ) then the waiving team can retract the waiver ( they can do this once ). The Astro's cancelled the waiver. BTW, the Yanks claimed Andy Petite ( who was also cancelled ). Interestingly, Jr. Griffey was not claimed, setting up a possible trade to the White Sox.
  4. That's fine for the next week to 10 days, but after that the decisions must be made.
  5. Can't argue with the logic, in fact I think most of the board would agree, except I think the loyalty thing will be a better factor.
  6. Amen to that ! Because, ececpt for an injury, Millar will be on the play-off roster. I think the Sox will be inclined to go with Olerurd, becuase of defensive ability and play-off experience.
  7. I understand about the expanded roster on Sept 1st. However, by Sept 1st the Sox must submit their post season roster, these are the players that are eligable for post season play.
  8. Well I'm just wondering with all the anticapated returns : Nixon, Olerud, Miller, Foulke, and Paplebon call-up and the fact that by Sept. 1st play-off rosters must be set. That's a lot of shuffling and adjustments ( let alone any other call ups ).
  9. What about Olerud ? Haven't heard much.
  10. What happens to Petagine when Trot comes back ?
  11. If they restart the game, and continue playing, this could be a record for the longest game thread ( while the game is still on ).
  12. Not that the either Sox care, but think about the poor bastards that paid inflated prices from, eBay, Stub Hub, other ticket brokers, scalpers, etc, parking, soverigns, food, etc. If the game is not replayed, they're totally screwed ( in they bought their tickets from a season ticket holder that passed down the line to them ) because a refund will be applied against the season ticket holders account. If they bought them directly from the Red Sox, then they still out the gas, parking, food, time, etc. No to mention, it they, and their guests, can make the rescheduled game.
  13. I said that. They will make every effort to make the game official ( pray for long, long, long, rain ). But its up to the Commish Office to decide whether to reschedule and when after the end of the season ( if the two teams can't work it out in the schedule ).
  14. Unless they restart, if they don't it starts a all new. Meaning you can pitch who ever you want and any line-up you want.
  15. This game has to go 5 innings or 4 1/2 if we're ahead ( which we're not ) to become official. In that case the team ahead wins. If it doesn't meet this criteria, then it is no game ( meaning everything is wiped out ) and they state again at another date.
  16. No. they wouldn't. They only do that in a "suspended" game (a called/suspended game due weather or darkness/ curfee after the official limit and tied). They will reschedule "as needed" meaning that if it has no affect on the standings it would not be replayed.
  17. 6:10 pm estimated restart time.
  18. Man, I hate rain delays. We all know they're going to make every effort to get the game in. I almost hope they don't, since we're losing, and I doubt we'd get all 9 innings to come back.
  19. And I hear they never really went to the moon.
  20. Maybe the promoter should join TalkSox. Good idea on the performance though.
  21. That's the one. Too bad he's having a hard time selling out Bank North Garden ( tickets selling below face ).
  22. Are you talking about Sweet Caroline ( Neil Diamond ) ?
  23. That's kind of a quick : hello, how are you, good bye.
  24. Good idea, but who do send down / dump ?
