  1. I said this on 5/9/09 and basically got laughed at for it haha. This situation is not fair for Lowrie either, He is not our savior, he is not good enough to be. There is a ton of pressure on the kid when he comes back, and frankly Im a little nervous for him. Vizquel this year: 51 AB .333 BA .370 OB% 2 SB 5 of his 17 hits are for Extra bases. He has played SS, 3B and 2B this season, and has not made an error yet. How is this guy not a perfect fit for the disaster we have right no? Cut Lugo, eat his 6M remaining this year, and the 9M remaining next year, he is useless......no point in having him around when someone like Vizquel is out there.
  2. How much longer do we have to endure?
  3. I take it you like my icon haha. Straight Boston Irish Pride!
  4. Horrible looking statues. If they wanted to have something that appeared in motion, why not have a normal looking statue with a little screen next to where it says his name showing game footage of him, we have the technology to do something better than this atrocity.
  5. or Sabathia chokes in the postseason again.
  6. Papi to get eyes checked, embarrassing if you ask me. They waited this long to get such an important piece of a hitters ability to hit the ball checked out? They are looking for reasons to DL him. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4231945
  7. I just got back from the hospital in Albany, she made it through surgery. The tumor is still there, but she is alive for now. They had to take her leg though.
  8. I know a lot of you dont really know who I am, but I have been posting here for 5 years, so many of you have learned at least a little bit about me. Its really late at night, and I dont have anyone to really talk to about this, so I will give you the story. My Finance has a sister, who is 33 years old and has 3 young girls 7 years old or less, who lives in NY and has a husband who is a Yankee lover. She was diagnosed with cancer, anal cancer....a very rare form a year ago. A couple of months later she received news that it was terminal, she will die. In a couple of weeks we are scheduled to go to a Sox Yankees game at Fenway, which was donated to us by the front office of the Redsox after my finances mother wrote a letter to them describing our situation and the fact that her husband was a Yankees fan. Well tonight, at 1AM I got a phone call saying that they cannot stop the bleeding from her open leg wound, and if they dont stop it, she will bleed out and die. She was air flighted to a hospital in Albany, and I am expecting another phone call that she has passed. I want her to make the game, shes never been to a Sox Yankees game and neither have I, but the outlook looks bleak. For my future brother in law, I cannot wish anything bad upon the Yankees since it may be the one thing moving forward he has to be happy about. I dont really know what else to do, but you guys have been supportive of other members in bad situations, so I guess all I want is a little support since i have nowhere else to vent at 250 in the morning and Ive downed 12+ miller lites. I just cant get over the fact that a healthy 33 year old with three beautiful little girls will have to say goodbye to the world, really puts things in to perspective on how shallow life can be towards you. -SCM33
  9. They wouldnt want to pay him the money we are paying him. Not for a 4-5 inning pitcher.
  10. I know you are prob joking, but who the hell would want him?
  11. hate him......f***ing hate him
  12. I hate Dice K I think we still have the receipt, how about a refund or at least store credit?
  13. Reggie Jefferson....very underrated hitter. Played 1B/LF/DH, career in Boston: .316AV .363OB% .505SLG over 5 seasons. Erik Hanson....I began watching every game in 1995, he was one of the reasons. Stan Belinda....same as above Tony Pena, dont know why....just always liked him. Mo Vaughn....first real complete hitter I followed. Billy Hatcher....I was at the game he stole home plate. Aaron Sele....first pitching "prospect" I remember growing up. Rich Garces.......just because he was fat AND good. Arquimedez Pozo.....dont remember who he was traded for, but Duquette sold me on him as a slugging prospect....never did a thing though. Cool name. Mike Benjamin.....those crazy sideburns. http://media.sacbee.com/smedia/2009/01/12/10/907-ATHLETICSREDSOX.standalone.prod_affiliate.4.JPG Jim Leyritz and his crazy batting stance bat twirl. Bret Saberhagen Brian Daubach ......I guess I liked alot of the former players haha.
  14. You'd honestly rather have Lugo than kept Gonzalez (injury aside, nobody could predict injury)? Dont say neither either......staying with the chain of transactions that occurred, you'd rather they signed Lugo?
  15. In this thread, I would like for all of to discuss just what exactly has happened over the years during Theos regime as Bostons GM. What has happened here? It started with Nomar, when it became clear they could not rely on him to play everyday, or when his desire was questioned, they dealt him away. I was OK with that. His career track since the trade has worked out well for Boston. Orlando Cabrera: Much controversy surrounds him. He did a great job here, and should have been resigned, but behind the door stuff hurt him with the rumors of him charming other teammates girlfriends/wives. I can understand the move to let him walk. Edgar Renteria: Offensively, he was not all that bad and I think his defense was a bit of a fluke. He was a butcher with the leather in 2005, but for his career, a very good D SS. He won a couple of GG (although that award doesnt mean much). I think we may have given up on him too early but Theos MO with SS is the glove (replacing Nomar with Cabrera and Renteria with Gonzalez.....altough Lugo does not support my theory). Alex Gonzalez: Greatest D SS I have ever seen wear a Sox uniform. Theo had another knee jerk reaction, this time wanting more offense out of the position, and acquired Lugo, a notorious Red Sox killer. He went back on his previous commitments to have a good defensive SS being that Lugo has never been known for the leather. Biggest mistake IMO since he had arguably the best D SS in baseball who had also remembered how to hit a little. Julio Lugo: biggest mistake in Theos GM regime. What was he thinking? He was never all that good with the stick, and only average with the glove. Combine this with the difficult field conditions at the Fens (always one of the toughest infields to play on) and you had recipe for disaster. Hes been brutal with the bat and glove. Do a couple of good games against your club really amount to a big time deal? Did Theo really believe it was in the best interest to rid himself of Renteria, at the time a household name at SS, Cabrera over a few off the field altercations which could have been smoothed over, especially since Foulke was on his way out, and Gonzalez who was incredible defensively and capable offensively for Julio Lugo? What was he thinking? Does anybody have any insight as to why he made these decisions? No offense to Green or Lowrie, but why are we stuck with Green/Lowrie/ Lugo when we could still have Cabrera/Gonzalez/Renteria who are all better than the latter Shortstops? -SCM33
  16. I think they don't think much of Chris Carter, not when Bailey is getting all these AB's to suck, Ortiz continues to play everyday, and rumors of acquiring super stars (kidding) like Nick Johnson. They obviously think he isn't much of an improvement.
  17. it seems hes been behind in a lot of counts and battling back. As closers go, they never want to be beat on a secondary pitch, maybe this is the reason we have not seen it much, because hes always falling behind in counts.
  18. too many holes right now. god help us if 1 of our stars goes down (Pedroia, Youk, Bay, Drew, Ellsbury) because we have NOTHING to replace them with. And yes, I called Drew and Ellsbury stars.....bc compared to what will replace them, they are stars.
  19. another s***** start for lester
  20. Yeah, one is a borderline bust who has proven nothing. The other is one of the best left handers in the game today.
