Wright's got good velocity on his FB, but it doesn't move enough to make mistakes over the plate. He's got to paint to be effective, and he does at times but has always had streaky control issues.
Wells pops up, then Cano boots a potential DP ball. 2-runs score on the E4. 6-2, runners on the corners with one out.
I am the Yankee game thread.
Hinske's 2nd sac-fly, 7-2.
Wright gets a quick hook. He pitched 1+ IP and allowed 7 baserunners (6 hits, 1 BB ) and 7 runs (3 ER). Small is coming in with the sacks full and no-outs.
EDIT: All 3 runs scored, so I changed the stats.
4 straight singles, Matsui error, 3-0 Jays, no-outs, 2nd and 3rd
Combacker hits Wright, Hinske out at first, still 2nd and 3rd, 1-out. Wright's OK and staying in the game.
He talks out of both sides of his mouth. One opinion for Yankees, and another completely contrary opinion for any members of the Yankees foe's. Don't waste your time, because even when you call him out on it, he ignores the challenge and continues with more of the same.
I would bet that they knew his age and didn't care. But when he wasn't able to get residency to play next year, then they used the age issue as an out of the contract.
Imagine how good of a power pitcher he will be once his splitter gets consistent. It's looked really filthy at times already this year, and this is the first year he's thrown it. You know Curt will be working with him some in the offseason.
