  1. No, it isn't. It would be important to note that whatever differential that works out to over the year, Pedroia will probably get to twice that amount more balls taking hits away, so with him in the field you'll net more total outs. This is the tradeoff that justifies using youth in the field.
  2. The 11 for 32 incorporates the 1 for 10 -- nice job killing your argument, whatever it was.
  3. I was watching last night, and Pedroyer looked really good on one turn I saw. He got pressure on his backside by the runner being close and even ended up getting flipped but still got the runner down the line by a step or two. Really good play.
  4. MENDOZA!!! D-Ped just cracked the Mendoza Line. 700, say something bad about him every day, he's been raking ever since you started razzing.
  5. Sure thing. Although, you'll have to watch on your computer instead of your TV. You know what would be a good idea. Big screen LCD's and Plasma's with BUS terminals to act as computer monitors.....hell, you could even go wireless with that now. Just put a little microcontroller and filter with an antenna somewhere in the casing. A lot of people stream data on the internet now, but I'm sure they'd love an option to see it on a bigger screen. Million dollar idea just waiting to happen.
  6. Yep, 4 trips to the DL in the last 3 days.

    The Ryder Cup

Europe is making every big shot they need to make. Bomb putts to win holes they should have lost. About 5 or 6 chip ins to halve a hole at birdie. Casey just sank an ace to ice his match. Clarke chipped in to prevent the US from keeping a match alive. They've got it all right now. Confidence, clutch, and luck. FYI, Sergio Garcia now has a commanding lead of first place on the People I Want to Punch in the Face List.
  8. I could venture a guess.
  9. I'll be finding out tomorrow. I have one now, and I need to go up to the hardware store tomorrow to get a splitter for the cable line that feeds my cable modem. According to the box you supply it signal to the internet through a router, a cable signal, and install the software and you are set. Next spring, I'll send it up to my wife's uncle who lives in Sandwich and coordinate with him about setting it up. No more opponent broadcasts. No more subscription fees. No more blackouts.
  10. I was just about to post the same thing. Gameday roolz.
  11. Go ahead, complete the thought............a crapometer.
  12. I disagree. I don't think they should have blackout rights at all. Their blackout doesn't supercede local broadcasts. I regularly get Marlins or D-Ray games on Saturdays - Orlando gets both for some reason. The only thing their blackout applies to is EI or MLB.TV, and people pay good money for those services. If the customers are paying, they should get every game. I won't subscribe next year. I will, however, get a slingbox and send it to some family up there that has NESN. EFF-YOO Fox!!!
  13. I just tried mlb.tv, it appears that Fox still gets its blackout rights even though it isn't airing any games. I f***ing hate Fox. They have s***** sports coverage, they are the epicenter of trash-TV, and they ruin Saturday baseball. Eff-Yoo Fox!
  14. Burnett is a big-league pitcher. What did Pedroier (Remy-speak) hit out, the heat or a hanging yacker?
  15. Somebody said something dirty? This is an ironic level of sensitivity. It appears you have no problem tossing barbs about the faults of Sox players, but your panties get twisted when the fault of a Yankee is discussed. Surprising? Not even a little.
  16. Before anyone chimes in with accusations of Gammons bias, consider the quote where it's apparent that the player is not playing in NY at the time. This means if it was Mussina -- can anyone think of a top flight pitcher who is commonly refered to as "cerebral" and went to a top US University? -- he was still playing in Baltimore.

    The Ryder Cup

Zach Johnson is reason enough alone to watch this thing. The Euros start the afternoon matches making some bombs and taking the early lead in most of them.

    The Ryder Cup

More of the same in the morning matches. The US is scrambling to hold a lead in the last match to make the morning go 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 for the European team. That means they will be down 7 1/2 to 4 1/2 going into the afternoon 2-ball matches.
  19. You have to start exhuming bodies to find people that can replace Manny's bat. Oh, and that stat about him being 1 of 10. If Helton has another year like this year, likely, he drops out and makes Manny 1 of 9. The other 8 are Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Bonds, Pujols, Foxx, Greenberg, Hornsby. I'd say that's good company to keep.
  20. Here's what I don't get. The claim is that Manny is unprofessional, a quitter, and a key complaint is about his frequent pleas to be traded because he's not happy here. When you look at his stats, that just doesn't add up. Despite being unhappy here, despite his treatment in the press, despite his feelings about the game/town/FO, he still puts up a 1.000 OPS every year. He's able to look beyond his feelings and excel at his job, which is the very definition of being professional. And, I have to say, I don't blame him for wanting out. The mediots in Boston run rampant. The lunatics are running the assylum.

    The Ryder Cup

I know there aren't many golfers here, but I imagine a few of you swing the crooked sticks. For you non-golf fans, this competition is one of the best and most compelling golf events to watch on TV. The European squad is, for the third straight time, handing the Americans their hats in the team play part of the competition. 5-3 after yesterday's matches. They are up by more than 2 holes in 3 of the 4 morning matches. Oh yeah, and Sergio Garcia makes my top-5 of people I'd like to punch in the face.
  23. Edes brought his hachet to work today. I always thought the current value of money was higher than future value, so the deferred money is a favor to the team in my eye. With the FO so closely integrated with the Globe I wonder if this is the first in a series to turn sentiment against him to prep the fanbase for a trade. Either way, this will be a s*** storm. Good luck replacing the most consistently excellent hitter in the game of the last few decades.
