  1. Are you kidding me? You want to up the minimums to 20-25 and only have 4 starting pitcher slots. One injury and you are f***ed. I can abide by upping the minimums, but you need extra spots and extra bench to account for injuries/missed starts.
  2. I can't believe I need to say this, but put Pujols at SS and 3B, then we can start comparing their fielding abilities. Pujols is better with the bat alone, but ARod is better at everything else. Oh, and your top-5 power hitter list is seriously defficient without Hafner on it.
  3. ARod. Hits like Pujols, but he can run and play a MIF position like a legitimate gold-glover.
  4. Based on? Oh, that's right, he's on the Red Sox. Makes sense now.
  5. Or we could get rid of K/BB and just go with OPS. BA is a part of OBP, so it's already getting counted twice. K is part of two categories (K/BB and K/9) and BB is part of two categories (K/BB and WHIP). Then the categories would be.... OPS, HR, SB, RBI, R ERA, K/9, WHIP, W, SV
  6. I guess if you want to parse it like that, then go ahead. The message was pretty clear, and pretty incorrect. You know it.
  7. How can a prediction be wrong if the event hasn't happened? It can't, so I'm not calling your prediction, which is dripping with pinstriped optimism, wrong. You said the ESPN cronies always pick against the Yankees. Wrong. 70% of them had the Yankees winning the AL East last year. You pulled a dingleberry from your ass and tried to pass it as fact.
  8. Doesn't change the fact that you were flat out wrong in your statement (and hopefully your assertion - which the last 9 years have absolutely no bearing on).
  9. For magnus to take effect, the rotational vector must cross the trajectory vector. This happens with every type of spin, to some degree, except for spiralling. It sounds like this is accomplished by throwing a good spiral with a baseball.
  10. Every single one of those stats are IP dependent, and Yahoo doesn't just average out your pitchers. For expample, if your closers go for 6 IP with 10 K (15 K/9) and your starters go for 30 IP with 30 K (9 K/9), the average isn't (15 K/9 + 9 K/9) / 2 = 12. It would be (40K/36IP)*9= 10 K/9. They take the aggregate statline, not the average of each person's contribution.
  11. No, because he didn't go to arbitration. It might be an arbitration settlement record, though.
  12. I think Papelbon returning to the closers role should be dependent on the three things that Francona is on record saying needs to happen. One, whoever is doing it to start the season can't get the job done. Two, he is struggling as a starter. Three, the doctors OK the move. All three of those need to happen to move him to the the BP, IMO. Even if one and three happen, but two does not, they shouldn't move him. I would much rather try and find a closer on the run if he's a stud in the rotation.
  13. Well, Jacksonianmarch is playing, and there's a team called Jack's Jacks. Dingleberry is just some banter. I'm up for the dues. Is Zach coordinating that?
  14. Ok, Zach has started the '07 league. Here's the teams as best I can determine, please fill in your team if I missed you.... Los Pepinos - ORS ZaChAttaCK! - schillingouttheks Cusetown Heroes - HOSN Pesky's Crusaders - ???? Porch Monkeys - ARod2212 :wtf: Brooklyn Yankees - He Hate Me ??? The Pubes - Crespo Stockers - Take a guess The Burninators - See Red Cape Codders - SFoC Jack's Jacks - Dingleberry ???? - ???? So, let's have this thread be where we discuss and vent about the goings-on of our teams this year.
  15. Look at all of their yearly variance, and then explain why I should be concerned. If you can cogently (doubtful), I'll start worrying.
  16. Steve Trachsel is going to require couseling.
  17. Looks like Josh might be bringing more change-ups this year. This is good to hear. Perhaps this might have something to do with Wallace being shown the door. link
