  1. I could care less about it, but you seem to want people to be exposed to this information. How about providing a path?
  2. Really? I like Aceves and what he offers in terms of long relief, but best in the BP is a stretch.
  3. Well, you generally use information in any way possible to support the case for the "veteran player". When something becomes that rote, generalizaitons follow. Top-100 is a big prospect. Full stop. You know, you could put this to bed by providing a link.
  4. Good luck with that. The script is set....and as far as Francona is concerned, it's in stone. The players in the currently prescribed roles will have to fail more than a few times for him to consider changing. If you disagree, see the latter stages of Mike Timlin's career.
  5. Are you really this stupid?
  6. This kind of shows that you still don't get it. Think of the top 20 players in MLB (there are 6x more players in MiLB - so I've reduced the consideration accordingly). If Dustin Pedroia is the 10th best player in all of MLB one year, and is then 11th the next year.....would you say he's going in the wrong direction? In terms of rankings, it would be appropriate to do so, which is why I think you are doing it, but I'd be surprised if you thought so. Little variances in performance from year to year happen all the time and these blips impact ranking lists, but that doesn't mean Pedroia isn't a fantastic, talented player that you'd want on your team.
  7. He's a bit worse than the others too, as it pertains to the pitcher's approach. Most of his type of player will a least be aggressive with strikes in the zone. Not Gardner. He looks at more strikes and strikes out looking more than almost the entire league. Dude is up there looking to do one thing, walk, and I think pitchers are figuring this out. EDIT: Leads the league with the lowest Z-Swing% (percentage of pitches in the strikezone that are swung at) among qualified players at 50.1%. I think his struggles will continue until he proves he can do something to those pitches in the zone.

    ws?

I've always wondered what it was like to be inside the mind of a schizophrenic, and then I read this thread. I feel fulfilled now.
  10. It all depends on how you sport it. We have a guy at work who is bald on top, white on the sides, but he's a dynamo...you have to jog to keep up with him. We call him "White Lightning". There's worse things.
  11. This is "the" reason to hate him. Laughing at him clinging to a youth that clearly no longer exists is a product of that hate. I say let what is be. In other words, if you are going bald, embrace the baldness and reject the combover. If you are going gray, go silver fox and reject the Keith Hernandez commercials. That's just me though.
  12. The fact that the Giants can't even overcome the Diamondbacks in the standings makes me seriously doubt their ability to be the only team that could beat the Phillies in the NL playoffs. Yes, their starting pitching is good, but they are pretty much s*** everywhere else.
  13. Tony La Russa....LOL. Something just struck me watching La Russa come out to change pitchers in the 9th against the Brewers. La Russa has pure, clean auburn hair creeping out of his cap. The only problem is, the dude is 66, going on 67 in October. Who does he think he is fooling? That s*** is pure silver fox by now. Tool.
  14. That's saying something, too, because Leiter lived off of, absolutely owed his entire existence to, umpires widening the strikezone.
  15. Yes, but can you cite the specifics of my post? The Rivera stikezone makes Maddux blush.
  16. To quote the immortal Irwin F Fletcher, "No, no, never, never".
  17. Just got in, watched most of the game at a bar with some friends from work. I think the club needs to be renamed. I suggest.... John Lackey Pitches Like a #4 Starter, A Guy You Hope Doesn't Get Pounded, But Eventually When He Does You Aren't Surprised, Even Though He Gets Paid To Be A Lot Better, Unfortunately Robbing Your Team Of Valuable Resources To Get A Player That Your Minor League System Could Not Replace, Which It Probably Could Do With Lackey Anyone on board?
  18. I think Beckett is scheduled to pitch the Wednesday game, meaning he'd be on 3-days rest on Sunday. ESPN is showing Bedard as the Sunday SP.
