  1. Yeah, but Ryan Howard plays a left end of the defensive spectrum position poorly. Hanley plays one on the right end adequately. You are comparing apples and orangutans.
  2. Where in the blue blazes do you get your dope? I want some, it seems to be an excellent escape from reality. Hanley Ramirez is 15 years away from being so useless in the field he needs to DH. Hanley's defense may be below average at SS, but his bat more than makes up for it. His range is roughly average by UZR, with an outlier in 2007, and his problem is errors. Those will go away, or at least reduce, with maturity as a player. The team that moves him off of SS at this time is foolish, because he is so much better offensively than the rest of the pack at SS. That move may be necessary when his range is diminished, but it's probably a few years before that happens. Think about what it would mean if the Sox got him. Would you prefer him at 3B, Lowrie at SS, and Youk at 1B, or would you prefer him at SS, Youk at 3B, and an acquisition at 1B? I take the latter. That said, I don't think they get him, so this discussion is probably purely academic.
  3. You ever get tired of saying this?
  4. A .686 is pretty close to what the team has averaged out of the position since 2006. Wilson is a career +4.5 UZR/150 fielder, which is what Lugo did for us in 2007. Only, Lugo's offensive contribution that year was a .643. I can live with Jack's good D and steady hands. Not sure what I'd give up to get him, but he's an upgrade, IMO.
  5. Jones and Green. Dojji was touting them as quality depth to stash down in AAA during ST. EDIT: I somewhat agree. I'd like them in AAA right now.
  6. Man, Dojji's farm-drek love children are shining bright tonight.
  7. Yeah, I'm not worried about the game being out of reach. I just don't like "giving" up the lead. Make them earn it. Nick's lone value early was that he was hitting. That seems to have stopped, and the suspect play in the field continues. Lugo sucks, but he's a better option than the real Nick Green.
  8. No, I'm watching. I wasn't ruled an error, but it should have been IMO, and it wasn't the play in CF. Before that, there was a throwing error on the fielder's choice to Pedroia at 2B. That would have been out #3.
  9. No, Green flubbed the ball to Pedroia.
  10. Eat a dick, Nick. NESN showed Masterson's line, surprised the runs this inning are earned, is that right? It was a 2 out error.
  11. Everyone still love Nick Green now?
  12. Ouch, that twin killing hurt what could have been a big inning. Oh, and I'm about 30 seconds behind on MLB.TV.
  13. Right, because if we are right, then it would mark the very first time a professional athlete acted on his own agenda in lieu of doing what was best for the outcome of the team/game....ever. How could we possibly think someone who has no qualms about showing up the umpire or other team, two things totally against the conventions of the sport, also lose situational awareness?
  14. The motive is pretty clear if you look at Bay's split against Yankee pitching this year.
  15. I didn't think Beckett should have been, so, no. While I think he threw at Bay intentionally, there's no proof and it wasn't near the head. It was interesting to see his little "performance" out there in a losing effort. I like it that their best raw talent youngster has the head of a 4 y/o on his shoulders when it comes to game situation awareness. I give Beckett a hard time for his million-dollar arm / ten-cent head tendancies, but Joba makes him look like Einstein.
  16. Sparkplug, or is it buttplug, Brett Gardner in.
  17. The spaghetti monster doesn't preach perspective, huh? There are better times to bitch about everything than when the team in 4-0 against the Yankees in April and has a 4 run lead in the 9th. Just saying.
  18. I'm only on gameday, but from the results, the Yankees have a fine graduate from the Javier Lopez School of Relief Pitching in Mark Melancon.
  19. If I say "no", can that mean he doesn't return?
