Shields almost had the arm triangle, which is what I was referring to. Miller allows his arm to get pinned against his head, but Shields didn't lock it in. Perhaps it's not a move he's very good at, because Miller has left it open a couple of times, but Shields didn't even try it until the 4th round.

    Wow, he had him.

    Uh oh...

Mller looks susceptible to the triangle choke.

    Strikeforce

Yeah, I asked before the round clock was up. It looks like Shields is going to be able perform the one leg takedown at will.

Belt fights are 5 rounds, right?

The more I see of Mousasi, the more I'm impressed. His game is pretty complete. He is proficient and attacks from every position.

Ground and pound coming from Mousasi.

Don't know, Spud. Tank would probably lose to the technical fighters, for instance Oleg Taktarov, the Ukrainian you were thinking of, beat him. That said, all it takes is one punch, or one mistake against an elite grappler, and the fight is over. Werdum wins the first fight, but he showed flaws. Excited to see Gegard fight again.

I've seen a lot of this sentiment. I don't get it. I love watching a technical mastery on display, and that's Fedor. I could understand the hate if he was a bigmouth prick, but he's not. Anyway, as a new fan of MMA, I've been catching up on what I've missed via youtube. I'll be shocked if Rogers wins. Don't get me wrong, I realize anything can happen, the haymaker he landed against Arlovski could find Fedor's chin.

Anyone watching tonight? Two really good fighters hit the octagon tonight in separate fights. Fedor makes his Strikeforce debut vs. Brett Rogers. Gegard Mousasi fights on the undercard. For those that didn't know, but might be interested, it's on CBS at 9:00 EST / 8:00 CST.
  14. So a headshot should suffice, right?
  15. OPS+ accounts for home park, so what rhet is asking is a legitimate question IMO. Ignore Swisher, Cano, and Cabrera because they are either in or about to enter ages associated with the prime phase of player production. The others are all well over that age, and it's within reason to question if those performances can be repeated as they age further. However, it also assumes Matsui and Damon will both be back in a year when Holliday and Bay will be available. I'm not so sure that will be the case.
  16. The reason I believe it was Gom is simple. Look at what happened. A person tried to catch a baseball and failed. This is exactly what I would expect from Gom.
  17. Swisher is trying to hit a 5-run homer with the bases empty.
  18. Smooth like buttah.
  19. He missed bad and threw a cookie that Ibanez looked at. Down and in from a RHP to a LH with power at Yankee Stadium is a big mistake.
  20. One, only one of them looked close and it was right at the edge of the strikezone. IMO, those should get called strikes 50% of the time, so I see no squeezing of one of them gets called a ball. The others were off the plate to my eye and pitch f/x confirms this. Two, I don't care if they've been getting called strikes all postseason. The umps have been dicking up calls at the bases all postseason too, but that doesn't make either acceptable.
  21. First strike he threw him.
  22. Only if the rules have changed to the Greg Maddux strikezone. Those pitches are off the plate.
  23. Hughes looks like he's channelling his inner Delcarmen.
  24. Call me crazy, but the discussion seems to be about who you take in a potential postseason matchup in the next few weeks, so I'm not sure how relevant their $$/production value is to the conversation.
  25. I don't know if he cheats, but I do know this, I'm not swimming in his pool.
