  1. Gom, impact is dependent on opportunity. Opportunity can be accounted for. What don't you understand about this?
  2. Gom, how about this. How about instead of extrapolating a nonsensical idea from dimwitted writers (here you go again believing what somebody else wrote, shame, shame), you actually follow the minor leagues? How about that? That's what I do. I couldn't tell you the first thing about what the FO thinks about the Sox prospects, because I don't care. Quit with the ridiculous strawmen. You are a broken record. You post the same 5 accusations 5 times a day, and none of them are accurate. My 3 y/o has more sense.
  3. Your guess, your opinion, what's the difference?
  4. Yeah, it's UZR. It would probably be better if they just grabbed random fan's opinions, though.
  5. Quit pretending, Gom. You know absolutely nothing about the quality of any teams' prospects, even your own.
  6. Well, you should know the smell of it, it's everything you post. The rest: made up babble. Respond however you like, I'm done with this. You are making things up. I've cautioned you about the error of doing this, and you make more things up to support the made up s***. You are a walking, talking strawman factory.
  7. I hear he's a low risk / high reward signing.
  8. The reasoning behind that seems suspect. I think Cameron's signing indicates the OF is set.
  9. 100 = 400? I think your meter is broken.
  10. Hard to "swoop" when there's been little reporting of Sox/Holliday negotiations and meetings.
  11. Here's my immediate reaction to this signing. Meh. I like him for next year. However, I have a hard time seeing them offer similar $$ again next year to either of Beckett and Halladay, which means I suspect he's the Beckett replacement. If that's the case, he's my last choice of those three going into the future. Time will tell.
  12. And last year Lars Anderson was in this boat, and next year there will be potential stars from the '09 draft class that haven't been exposed at higher levels. I'm not inclined to trade your best and brightest unless it's for a major league best and brightest, and that's what Gonzalez is. Of the two potential combos, I say go for the Buchholz/Westmoreland combo. I think Kelly is more likely than Westmoreland to continue his developmental trajectory, and I'd prefer they give up a mix of pitching/bats rather than all pitching.
  13. I have, and the above is why I say you are taking my position to the extreme, to the only place where a contradiction can be found. I'm sorry, but I don't see the world in black and white. I see it in gray, which acknowledges takes some of the black and some of the white. There's no double standard at play here. I think the Red Sox success is largely due to their financial advantage too, as I've communicated several times. So, no, you don't know what an attempt to portray two similar things differently is, because your accusation is incorrect.
  14. You are reaching. I've said all along that winning, even with an advantage, is an accomplishment, but the accomplishment is diminished by the advantage. Here's an idea, show me where I have said otherwise, and I'll continue this discussion. Short of that, I'm not interested. No, he hasn't. He continually misrepresents my position. You can't be right when you can't get the idea you are attempting to counter right.
  15. And that's a faulty opinion. With these types of moves, expectations can rightly be raised, with raised expectations comes a diminishment of the accomplishment if it is realized. All I'm saying is, in the words or Warner Wolf, "Let's not go sucking each others dicks just yet." Sure, raise the expectations, but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen. My comment still fits with what I've posted on the subject before. It only doesn't fit if you take me comments to the extreme, which you appear to be doing.
  16. Oh, ok, but you asked about contribution to winning. Winning/losing is determined over the course of a season, not multiple seasons, so I went to the seasonal AAV. That said, given one extra year to contribute, I certainly think Holliday would be worth 50% more.
  17. LF? Remove Lowell and add Holliday, then we are talking about a potential "best ever" Sox team, on paper, that is. These things have a funny way of not always ending up like the paper suggests they should.
  18. Where is the 40-50% more coming from? Just think about what that says. If Jason Bay signs for $16M/yr, then that suggests Holliday will get $24M/yr. I just don't see that happening. I could see $16M and $20M, which would be 25% more. Looking at WARP/WAR/etc, I see this as a justified expense.
  19. Desean Jackson is bringing SFoC back from the dead.
  20. I've seen it reported to be the $9.5M yeszir posted down to as low as $6M, rhetorically.
