  1. Its all about consistent playing time, he wouldnt have done those numbers here
  2. Cora 0 for 2. First AB was grounding into fielders choise, coulve been a DP. Next AB he makes up for it by lining into an inning ending double play Kazmir at 75 pitches through 5. he should be good to go 7 innings tonight
  3. Cora's recent tough strech? Its been going on for awhile Breakdown of July to September Lugo 70 for 234 (.299 avg) 22 Doubles, Triple, 2 HRs, 33 RBIs, 28 Runs, 16 Walks, 28 Ks, 8 SBs Cora 14 for 82 (.171 avg) 5 Doubles, 3 RBIs, 13 Runs, 2 Walks, 8 Ks, SB
  4. No news on manny's return. Ortiz gets the night off, one reason being his lack of success against Kazmir and the more serious reason is that his knee is starting to hurt him more again. Check out todays lineup Kazmir this season vs Boston in 5 games, 1-2 with a 2.68 ERA. At Fenway Park in 3 games, 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA. On the road in 14 games, 8-4 with a 3.77 ERA Schilling this season at home in 10 games, 3-2 with a 4.23 ERA

  6. roto Tragic, tragic story. The Pats' Daryl Stingley had that happen in 1979
  7. Everyone says there is a concern about Schilling, I just dont see it. He shouldve won his last two games but was outdone by bad run support and the bullpen blowing his last game Since he came back from DL in 6 starts (2-2, 3.65 ERA) 37 innings, 39 Hits, 16 Runs (15 ERA), 6 HRs, 3 Walks, 17 Ks In Yankee Stadium he pitched like it was the playoffs and allowed just 2 runs in 7 innings against that tough as hell lineup. Beckett probably is penciled in as the game 1 starter, but Schilling's history suggests it will be a hard decision who starts that game
  8. Yesss Sox win 87-57, back to 30 games above .500 Papelbon is f***ing money, back to back 35 save seasons. He passes Sparky Lyle for sole posession of 6th place in franchise history Beckett pitched his heart out and rightfully got his 18th W of the year. Three more chances to get to 20 Wins. Now has 173 Ks on the season, a new career high. Also this was his 75th career win Crisp came through with a big hit late in the game to knock in Drew (stolen base, advanced on sac fly from Tek)
  9. Yes Coco! 3-2 Probably Drew's biggest moment of this season, stealing a base to later on set up the RBI single with 2 outs EDIT: Cora the .177 hitter since the Break is not being pinch hit for again
  10. 7 innings, 2 Runs, 8 Ks And yet his offense is one inning away from denying him of his major league leading 18th Win
  11. Cmon Sox, your ace is good for just 1 more inning. Get him 1 measly extra run so he can have a chance of getting his 18th
  12. Lugo with the day off, Cora in his place. With back to back good games, Drew has been bumped up to the #5 spot. Somehow Jay Payton is getting the day off when he's one of the few batters to have success against Beckett, Ill gladly take it Beckett this season vs Baltimore in 5 games, 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA. At Camden Yards in 3 games, 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA. On the road in 12 games, 10-2 with a 2.24 ERA Guthrie this season vs Boston in 3 games, 1.98 ERA.

  14. So Beckett is pitching tomorrow and the Pats are playing
  15. At this point Wake should be the game 3 starter Dice-K's last 5 starts-- 9.66 ERA (Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay, New York, Toronto, Baltimore) 26.1 innings, 32 Hits, 28 Runs, 6 HRs, 14 Walks, 20 Ks
  16. I still think his best years are ahead of him, this is the most he has ever worked in a season. Against the toughest lineups Yes it is frutstrating, always one inning he pitches like Jason Johnson
  17. Matsuzaka's slide continues
  18. Matsuzaka this season on the road in 16 games, 7-7 with a 3.24 ERA
  19. I shouldnt really be surprised, Kevin Kennedy on Fox said about the balk... Obviously that last part was a reference to Arod in Toronto.
  20. Pedroia's comments after the game, per boston globe. I love the moxie in this kid
  21. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/09/07/rookie_has_been_using_the_palmer_method/ Former pitcher Jim Palmer believes there is no guarantee that Bucholz will be in the opening rotation. Stating because the Sox havent seen him pitch enough yet
  22. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070907&content_id=2194889&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos Currently at 179 games, he is also 15 games away from setting the major league record
  23. Just got back from a sports bar, another great win. 86-56, season high 30 games above .500! The story of the day was Lester who pitched a solid start. Orioles or not, this should give him confidence with back to back wins... Oh yeaaa and f*** Cabrera! The bitch got mad at Coco for bunting late in the game with the score 3-0. Then Coco magically made him balk --First of all, Mr. High & Mighty (who averages 100+ walks a season) its called part of the game --Secondly, its not like the score was 15-0 and he was trying to rub it in your face. It was 3-0, at that point that is very much exppected from speedy players Scarface hasnt deserved the right to be a la Roger Clemens or Randy Johnson, he's just some punk pitcher
