  1. Christ, Pedroia is hitting .327. Pretty good nearly half way through the season, wouldn't people agree??? Especially those of you who raked Theo and the front office over the coals for letting LORETTA go?
  2. They are essentially the same, though the Guano variety has a little more spice to it.
  3. Well played! (now don't ever say that again!)
  4. Someone else: You dumbass example1. You jinxed it! No I didn't.
  5. Youk tends to end good ABs like this with doubles. knock on wood
  6. Hey Lester, did you hear that? Tavarez pulled up a little limp after that pitch. Clay, don't take your cleats off buddy.
  7. That wasn't a strike. It was outside by about 5 inches but it was a nasty curveball. It is true that the sox need consistent umpiring for their style of play to be effective. Especially since recently their style of play has been watching pitches to load the bases then weakly making outs to retire the side.
  8. f***ing amateuish. At least he didn't throw his bats at the ump like he did a few years ago. That wasn't even an out worth arguing over. Its the first f***ing inning. At least get 3 ABs in and be losing or winning by a lot if you're going to get tossed over nothing. Now papi can go hit the showers and enjoy what will essentially be a night off
  9. I will be shocked if the DH is not Pena.
  10. Who the f*** does Ortiz think he is? YOU CANNOT ARGUE BALLS AND STRIKES!!! Goddamn it! Stop being a baby and get your ass back to the f***ing dugout. This team sucks right now and you need to be a leader. f***!
  11. So when moving all these other guys aound in the lineup, why not shift Manny? If nothing else move him to 3rd where Papi would back him up and he would be on for Papi. His 500+ OBP in the past month would certainly put some ducks on the pond.
  12. I have no reason to think that A-Rod isn't taking HGH. Until there is a definitive test or way or knowing I am suspicious of everyone who is putting up numbers that haven't been seen before, or guys who look super-humanly lage. That said, A-rod also has a sweet, sweet stroke and hits the ball hard at all times. Also, steroids ARE cheating. It doesn't matter if it is in the rules or not. That is a stupidly high standard to have for something being valid or not, as it would keep every new form of cheating legal until it is discovered and defined; thus taking any responsibility away from the person cheating and putting it all on the rule makers. These guys don't question whether or not they are cheating. They knew they were cheating, that's why they hid what they did for the most part.
  13. JD Drew is this teams 5 hitter.
  14. No, it wasn't that good. Here's what I like given the players we have: Lugo Youkilis Ortiz Manny Drew Lowell Varitek Crisp Pedroia I have no stats present to back it up, but that's the one I've been most comfortable with this season. I like Youkilis in front of Ortiz a whole lot. I still want Drew up when it matters. Lowell and Varitek will do their thing and Crisp belongs at the bottom of the order. Pedroia will scrap at the bottom of the order. Too many games have been coming down to the last at bats, which makes everyone freak out about batting order. If this team is really producing then they should have many games where they put runs on the board earlier and the importance of having lugo get 5 ABs should be mitigated. I think players should hit where their skills best suit them, not so much based on who is hot. Of course, if I had my way and Ellsbury came up then the core of the lineup could be surrounded with home-grown type hitters, offering a lot of protection. Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz Manny Drew Youkilis Lowell Varitek Lugo Lugo sucks, but at least he sucks in the position where sucky hitters hit.
  15. That's it. The HR is missing, which is a crap shoot because a HR can be 1 run or 4 runs. Especially with this team's overall OBP it can lead to a lot of runs and game shifting moments.
  16. I made this point in another thread too. Like it or not, this team gets a lot of its production from those two and it just hasn't happened. They are both hitting pretty well, though Manny's slugging is down a shitload, which is huge because it means Manny's getting singles with Ortiz or Youkilis on base, which doesn't lead to a run necessarily; whereas in the past he's hitting HRs in that situation. Ortiz is also taking more bad swings than I've seen probably since 03. There is every reason to believe they and this team will catch fire again in the not-too-distant future. Bringing Barry into town might be a good way to start. Overall, if Manny and Papi are driving the ball consistently to deep parts of the park (Papi is, not manny) then more runs will score.
  17. You could be right. Or we could be talking about the black hole hitting in the SS spot in the order. Who the hell truly thought that Gonzo would suddenly put up a 20 HR season? I wouldn't bet on it happening again next year, or the year after that. He's just not that good. Lugo hasn't been that good either, but I'm willing to give him some time. Complaints about all of these guys will disappear if they produce later in the season and help this team win. If the Sox had lost in game 4 of the 04 season, people would have turned around and criticized the Nomar move and would have said Cabrera is a moderate solution at best. Face it, we had elite production from Nomar and see that level of production in other places and feel like we should have it.
