  1. I removed it... you guys should take it out of the "quote" as well, if you don't mind. Haunting, haunting...
  2. See, Clint wasn't freightened by the picture. He's a tough mo-fo. Meanwhile, Dipre's multiple litre's of beer may be on the floor of his house right now...
  3. You have a thick skin and for that, I thank you. (usually I'm not this pissy and I've never once refered to myself in the third person... to get called out on it in its first usage was a little annoying, I'm over it now).
  4. If I can out grump a700hitter then perhaps this board will take a turn for the better... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HvCDKMxrMd0/SS2tmAwkx_I/AAAAAAAAAGc/Hss8g5saGVo/s400/DwightBobblehead.jpg http://my.nbc.com/sn/7/b/c/a/quackers207,nbc.com/images/e8dd3b2040d2c344685466cf93b0c7e1.jpg
  5. I don't consider what you said to be criticism. It was just an explaination that I had done something that you find to be annoying. That's not criticism, that's just you being annoyed. You don't know enough about my personality from that one piece of data to draw any conclusions about narcissism. Is that something I do all the time? Is it something I did once? Is it a trait of mine? You certainly don't know, but you talk like you do. That sounds to me like talkingoutofyourassicism which, if diagnosed, is much, much worse than non-existent narcissism.
  6. Thanks for the feedback... hours after I made the post. I'll write it down and stick it into the deepest recesses of my "I don't give two shits" drawer. I suppose it is uncool to ever use the third person. Of course, that uncoolness doesn't compare with the complete big-headed cockyness that it takes to refer to people you don't know as narcissistic because they choose to use a narrative mode that you don't like. What a judgmental snobby elitest you must be. Pet peeve of mine, obviously.
  7. With your new more complex approach and your optimistic outlook you might quickly become my favorite poster. One nice thing about the Yankees beating the snot out of the Sox is that it gives me a chance to take a deep breath and put baseball on the side for a few days. Yes, I'll watch, but I won't expect much. Perhaps this team will get to the playoffs; if that is the case then Kudos. If not then I look forward to seeing what aggressive steps are taken to improve them moving forward. They missed Teixeira, so who comes next?
  8. You say that, but you watch how quickly other teams come running to grab him if the Red Sox are stupid enough to let him go or dismiss his effectiveness.
  9. I actually don't mind that Buchholz gets the start. I'm of the camp who believes he will be a good pitcher, an excellent pitcher, and that he will need to be able to make good starts like this one if he's going to get there. Also, there really isn't a lot of pressure here. I mean, yeah, big stage, Yankee stadium, national TV, etc., but who expects the Sox to win today? Who even expects Buchholz to go 5?
  10. Nah, you misread or I misstated. I think they remind me of last years team because they don't feel like a World Series club. Not because I think they are really good. I think last years team either achieved what they were capable of or overachieved a bit.
  11. Bay. He's not on the DL, but his ass on the sidelines and unavailable even in extra inning games doesn't help this team much.
  12. I don't know what the truth is, and frankly I just don't care very much. It isn't that I think it is unimportant... the facts are important to some and should come out. I just don't care very much. I didn't care much when it came out about A-Rod and I didn't care much when it came out about Manny. What everyone wants to hear is "what did he test positive for", but I just don't care. He likely either tested positive for something that enhanced his performance physically or something that would cover up that performance enhancing drug. Either way, I basically know the answer already. I think we'd be hard pressed to find a single player (including angels like Jeter) who hasn't taken SOMETHING throughout the course of his career to improve his performance. Like Kilo, I would be disappointed if he didn't say something substantive, rather than hiding in the cracks that exist in any story.
  13. Lately, Jacko is like the close-talker who has really bad B.O. He enters otherwise interesting threads and makes me want to just back away and not say anything. He's the restaurant patron with explosive gas. The woman with too much perfume... he just doesn't know when he's done enough. Look Jacko, we don't need you to rub it in. Your enormously inflated Yankees-ego is obviously overflowing with Yankee pride right now. Get over yourself gipper. You have won zero games for your team lately and your confidence in them has had no impact on their victories. None. While Red Sox nation prepares the rafters to hang the noose, you pour water on the remaining smoldering coals of the 2009 season. Your comments are actively pouring salt into an open wound and it hurts; it makes you look like a pretty bad doctor. Primum non nocere *******. Primum non nocere.
  14. -Matsui hit a hard line drive out to CF (out 1) -Posada got a good line drive hit to right -Cano got a bitch slap base hit -Hinske hit the ball hard, Drew caught it (out 2) -Cabrera struck out -Jeter got a bitch flyball -Damon popped out on a bunt (out 1) -Teixeira struck out swinging (out 2) -A-Rod hit an A BOMB (game over) I admit there were a few hard hit balls, but the Yankee win was virtually inevitable given the group of cripples the Sox were sending to the plate. It was only a matter of time.
  15. This team actually reminds me a lot of last years team (not shocking). They are a good team, good enough to keep me watching but not good enough to have me convinced that they should win it all. At this point, a playoff appearance would be a real victory--anything can happen in the playoffs and there would of course be a chance. Kilo is right, their schedule is killer right now. The good thing about that is we get to see what they're made of and get an early idea of what the rest of the season will look like. They don't need to win every game or even dominate, but if they can somehow make it out of the series with Detroit still ahead of the Wild Card then they might be okay. A700, I agree with you that not landing Teixeira is a clearly franchise-changing problem. Cliff Lee is a typical example of you piling on because it is convenient. You don't know what Cleveland was asking for to get him and I personally don't think he would be the difference between the Sox winning the WS this year. Another huge problem for this team that a lot of people just completely dont' mention is that Matsuzaka has been out. It's good that he's out, because he sucked earlier this year, but last year's Dice-K (despite what a lot of you want to argue) did not suck. He was ranked 30th in WARP in 2008, just behind impact players like Kinsler and Hamilton. His need for some time on the DL this year may have been predictable, but given his track record I think it would be hard to predict that his level of suck would be so high as to literally have killed this team while he pitched.
  16. I was impressed with Tazawa. I just hope he's not scarred for the rest of his career by that A-Bomb, from A-Rod. Tough, tough situation to come into in a big game. He gave up a few cheap hits and a few where there was good contact, but overall I'm still very hopeful about his future.
