  1. Look, I'm not really defending the Yankee fans. I give the Red Sox fans credit because they showed a great deal of respect for Torre. I just thought that you were trying to portray it like there was no specific reason why they were cheering...my mistake.
  2. Right because Ponson had pitched so poorly this year before he joined the Yankees and he's been just awful with the Yankees...
  3. Sexson could play first and Giambi could DH or vice versa. This is a pretty smart move by the Yankees in my opinion. Remember, Matsui is likely done for the year so they need as much offense as possible, not to mention a lot of their hitters struggle against lefties. He's being paid very little, and he's not going to play against righties. I'm not saying this is a greatest move ever and they're going to win a championship because they got Richie Sexson, but I don't see how you can say it's a bad move...
  4. Well...Torre was cheered because he was coming back from being out with cancer, so it really wasn't just a show of respect but I give the Sox fans credit regardless. However, when Mo was cheered it was very mocking because he had blown two saves against the Red Sox the week before.
  5. Very classy by Francona in terms of what he did for the Yankee players. Kudos to him. I was there and I cheered.
  6. Honestly, I know you've been quite outspoken about how much you hate the Yankee fans because of how they treated the Red Sox players, but did you really expect anything different?
  7. Yeah, I mean, everything you said is fair. Booing Drew boring the MVP presentation was completely unnecessary. Look, we know there are a lot of stupid Yankee fans out there...just like there are for most teams. Whatever, lets get back to actually talking about baseball and the second half of the season.
  8. I was at the game, and I cheered for all the Red Sox players because I was rooting for the American League. Also, I thought it was stupid to boo players during an all star game. With that being said, a700hitter, I really just think you're looking for more reasons to hate the Yankees and their fans. Yeah, they booed, but the way you're talking it's like the Red Sox players were physically attacked by Yankee fans. You're being way too sensitive about this.
  9. I'm thinking Rasner's time here in New York might be reaching it's end. He has truly been awful lately.
  10. The catcher's interference seems like a terrible rule to me in this situation. I understand giving the batter first base if he puts the ball in play but why give it to him on a foul ball?
  11. I voted for 1977 World Series Game 6, 1996 World Series Game 6, David Wells' perfect game, and 2003 ALCS Game 7.
  12. It's hard to say because there is honestly no telling how long he's going to be in the rotation no matter how well he pitches. If there are no injuries (which I'm sure there will be but for arguments sake they're impossible to predict) the top three in the rotation will remain as Wang, Pettitte, and Mussina. When Phil Hughes is healthy I'm confident they'll put him in the rotation and when Joba Chamberlain is ready I'm also confident they'll put him in the rotation. There are five starters right there, and we're not even counting Ian Kennedy, and although he has not pitched well this year, he began the year in the rotation and the Yankees have a lot invested in his future. Either way you look at it, with everyone healthy (once Chamberlain can start) Rasner is either sixth or seventh on the depth chart. He may go to the bullpen or they may send him to AAA to get consistent innings...there really is no telling.
  13. Haha, that was actually really funny in my opinion. What's too bad is that it seems like the majority of Yankee fans you see at the games seem to fall into the more negative categories.
  14. Of course but I think the real question is whether he can be a decent fifth starter for the next few months. Clearly he isn't going to continue to pitch like an ace, and he likely won't even pitch like a middle of the rotation starter. But considering his ability to locate his pitches and the fact that he is aggressive in the strike zone I don't think it would be unrealistic to think that he could be a decent starter at the back of the rotation for the remainder of the year (or until he is forced out of the rotation by Hughes and/or Chamberlain).
  15. Just because Mussina pitched the second game of the season doesn't mean that the Yankees view him as ahead of Hughes in terms of their five starters. The only reason he started the second game was that once they decided that Pettitte couldn't pitch the second game of the year Mussina's pitching schedule at the end of March was easier to adjust. Just because Mussina pitches the second game of the year doesn't mean the Yankees consider him their "2".
  16. If that is true, and I'm not saying it is, I think it's laughable that the Yankees declined the second offer.
  17. As for my opinion on Jeter's defensive ability, I would say that he is definitely bottom ten, and most likely bottom five although I would want to take more of a look at the numbers before I say anything specific. I come to this conclusion as a Yankee fan because I put absolutely no stock in the intangibles argument.
  18. If you think the Twins are making it difficult, then I suggest you do not even bother with Dan Haren.
  19. Which includes pitching a gem in the deciding game 5 of the 2003 DS in ATL.
  20. If you believe what they're printing, and what everyone is saying, A-Rod contacted the Yankees through a third part that was not Scott Boras. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7452506
