  1. I didn't know you felt that way about catcher defense Gom.
  2. The suggestions (whether it's a700 or someone else) that someone should find a different team to root for, because he or she disagrees with the way that team is operating, is absolutely ridiculous.
  3. I guess you quoted the wrong post lol.
  4. Well, it's winning the World Series, right? There's a distinct possibility that those two go hand in hand.
  5. I must have missed all those articles. Anyway, I posted this in another thread, but maybe you would be interested in an article from a slightly better source than mlb.com... http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/the-big-trade/
  6. I hope you're right, and I remember hearing at the end of last year that they plan to retract all the rules this year. However, in an interview that Cashman did today with MLBN, he didn't commit to Joba as a starter, only saying that's where he's leaning. If you're right, and Joba has a big season, I would agree that the Yankees are OK pitching wise.
  7. Like I said, while they were able to win the World Series with those three last year, I think they accomplished it by a slim margin (much slimmer than their 11-4 record suggests). Unless Chamberlain or Hughes really come into their own, which I acknowledged is possible, I don't think they have enough to win a World Series as the roster is currently constructed.
  8. Yeah, I agree. I have a better understanding about where you're coming from now.
  9. I don't think a trade like this has anything to do with the Yankees' monetary scheme. Sure, maybe there is some incentive not to increase payroll, but I think this is a trade a lot of teams could, and would make (financially).
  10. I don't understand why you're acting like I was challenging your post. I was asking a question.
  11. I don't think they should have made the trade, but would it really be a stretch money wise?
  12. The problem with that is that, at 29 years old when the season begins, they likely still have hope that Granderson will develop into more of a complete player (the ability to hit lefties). I see him playing every day, no matter who else they bring in.
  13. It seems like the Yankees entered the winter meetings with a specific agenda, and they're following through on it. They went into Monday ready to make a run at Curtis Granderson, and they finished that off. Now today, it appears they've finalized (or come close to) an agreement with Andy Pettitte. What could get done early, they took care of. Now, they'll probably have to wait a bit longer to finish their outfield, and it's unknown what they plan to do regarding starting pitcher. I'd say they're off to a good, efficient start, thus far.
  14. He's coming off an excellent second half, and a solid postseason. While he doesn't deserve quite that much money, it's just the Yankees' attempt to appease him, and not make him feel like they're lowballing him. For what it's worth, his 2009 WAR was 3.3, and, according to fangraphs, he was valued at 15 million dollars (and that doesn't include his postseason contributions). I also feel like a guy like Pettitte, if he felt he was being lowballed, would just call it a career.
  15. Wait, what? Halladay? ********? I'm not following...
  16. The player that the Red Sox had that came the closest to fitting their demands was Ellsbury. Initially, I thought it was both of them. This makes more sense.
  17. This is contingent on them acquiring a solid corner outfielder. If they don't do that, they've taken a step back offensively, in my opinion.
  18. I don't understand why you think someone is treating defensive statistics as gospel just because they mention them. As Dipre alluded to, many of us have said that the best way to evaluate defense is with a combination of defensive statistics and visual observation. You continue to falsely perceive other people's opinions. EDIT: Obviously, at Gom.
  19. What are your issues with the structure of UZR, besides the fact that, in your opinion, it missed on three Yankees this year?
