Anni, I may not agree with you much, but I agree with you 100% here.
Yankee fans, most of them, (not to make generalizations ) tend to say/think that they are still the best team/organization in the world today. I'm sorry, but I tihnk the best one is the STL Cardinals, as of right now. They are flawless, and just because they haven't come off of a three-peat in the past decade, I find them to be the best TODAY.
Yes, the past should be recognized, that I find correct in 26-6, but it should not be brought into arguments about today's ordeals. Not to take anything from the Yankees, they have been a dominant force for YEARS, (26 championships IS quite impressive), but they just aren't what they used to be, as hard as that may come. Recently, this past year and this year, the Sox have shown that they are still dominant coming off of last year, and while the Yankees obviously were a great team last year, I do believe that the Sox showed why they were better last year. Now, you may disagree that the Sox were a better team, but that's a different discussion.
My point being, you can't justify the present with past arguments.
